For the vast majority of Halo media, our convention is to italicise the names when writing them on the wiki, with only one exception (that I am aware of): downloadable content. The names of pieces of DLC are typically styled without italics, and in some older pages, aren't capitalised either. I cannot see any reason to treat DLC any differently in this regard to the games, novels, comics or films, and so I would like to make a relatively minor proposal to modify our convention.
I propose that, henceforth, we should:
- Always italicise DLC names when mentioned in a body of text (i.e.
Condemned was added in the Defiant Map Pack , not Condemned was added in the Defiant Map Pack )
- Always capitalise the DLC's name as if it were a title (i.e.
Blastacular Map Pack , not Blastacular map pack )
- Also italicise and capitalise the name in the same manner in the article title on its own page, just as we do for the games, novels and other media
We can go back and adjust previous pages to follow this convention after the merger is complete. However, I believe we should decide whether to adopt this convention as soon as possible, and then begin to enforce the decision immediately, as that way, there will be less work to do later on if we need to update older pages.
Thoughts?
