"Space birds"[1] are a flying species found on multiple human and Forerunner worlds, at one point including Requiem.[2]

Its ubiquity across multiple worlds may be an example of Forerunner reintroduction as part of the Conservation Measure.

Based on their file path and name it appears the space birds were created by Certain Affinity for the multiplayer map Abandon, and later reused on other maps.[1]
