Messages on bomb
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

There are hidden messages on the bomb used in the Assault multiplayer gametype in Halo 2,[1] Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 2: Anniversary.
Halo 2[edit]
In Halo 2, one of the four messages appears based on what map is currently in play:
"Thus I Refute Thee": |
"Hold Onto Yer Butt": |
"Kiss It Goodbye": |
A hieroglyph of a MJOLNIR Mark VI helmet, next to the two fingered peace symbol followed by "xoxo ♥": |
Halo 3[edit]
In Halo 3, there are only two messages; one is selected based on whether the player is the Connection Host. For the connection host, the message says "Hold Onto Yer Butt"; for other players, the message says "Thus I Refute Thee."[verification needed]
Halo: Reach[edit]
In Halo: Reach, there are four messages. Certain matchmaking modes, particularly in Grifball, also show a close-up of the bomb during Loadout screens.
- 'Hold Onto Yer Butt
- 'Kiss It Goodbye'
- 'Thus I Refute Thee
- A hieroglyph of a MJOLNIR Mark VI helmet, next to the two fingered peace symbol followed by "xoxo ♥"
Halo 2: Anniversary[edit]
In Halo 2: Anniversary, the message is a formula: a MJOLNIR Mark VI helmet + Austin = ♥. Austin is the location where Certain Affinity—the developers for Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer—is based.
Production notes[edit]
- 'Thus I Refute Thee' is a twist on a philosophical reference; it was included by Robert and Lorraine McLees as part of an inside joke between members of the group 7hr33.[2]
- "Hold Onto Yer Butt" is a reference to the film Jurassic Park, where Samuel L. Jackson's character Ray Arnold says the quote before switching out the power.
- On Bungie.net's matchmaking stats section of the service record, the description of the bomb is "Thus I refute thee."
