Halopedia talk:History
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Clarification[edit]
Halopedia (then Halo Wiki) was originally a part of AgentSeethroo's then clan, the BlackboxRepublic. After seeing the success of the wiki (and the demise of the clan), he decided to create GamerFocus along with the other wikis. Soon after H2wiki posted their ad at Bungie, we changed our name to Halopedia to differenciate between the two, moved to halopedia.org, and posted our own ad a bit later. Also, I'm pretty sure Porplemontage was there from the start; I became a sysop when GamerFocus was created. --Dragonclaws 19:41, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- Feel free to change whatever needs correcting. I kept the first year of the history rather vague because I didn't join the project until October 2005, so I don't know much of what happened before that. -ED 18:25, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Mention the Claim to Fame?[edit]
Halopedia was actually mentioned in the July 2008 issue of GamePro in their Halo Wars article; the reference was as follow:
- "Spend a few minutes browsing the Halopedia (halo.wikia.com) and you'll see that Halo players are an obsessive, detail-oriented bunch"
- — GamePro, Issue 238, July 2008

Where was Halopedia created? The USA? United Kingdom? Australia? - Scot 113 15:58, April 2, 2010 (UTC)
Read through the article, and take a wild guess. Then, if you know who made the site, look on their userpage and it might say where they live. That will anseer the question. 118, Knave-busting General
Affiliation[edit]
Shouldn't the bar of links on the bottom of the wiki be mentioned somewhere? You know, the one that states this:
Donkey Kong Wiki | Halopedia | Kingdom Hearts Wiki | Pikipedia | SmashWiki | Super Mario Wiki
And shouldn't the wiki's alliance with the NIWA and HaloRing be mentioned as well in the current section? Just wondering. ~Jman98~ 11:18, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
- HaloRing is mentioned on Project:Community. Also, we are not affiliated with NIWA, NIWA is for wikis that revolve around Nintendo games. The bar on the bottom is an advertisement about other wikis that our host, Steve hosts.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 13:08 22 March 2012 (EST)
- Well, not much is known actually about HaloRing; we simply now that it's a hub that connects every Halo site (official or otherwise). As for NIWA, we are affiliated to them; we support their goals and principles, essentially the need to promote wiki-independence and to cut off corporate greediness (such example being Wikia and their lack of care for the wiki community, though things have change to an extent since the migration). — subtank 15:18, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
Previous link[edit]
Halopedia's previous link was halo.wiki.gallery. I found that out by an old link, and the fact that it redirects to Halopedia.org. This should be added in (the date that the URL changed)—This unsigned comment was made by EthanGaming117 (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
