Biography[edit]

Postwar[edit]

Following the collapse of the Covenant, the Sangheili civil war known as the Blooding Years ravaged Ghe 'Talot’s homeworld of Feldokra. At some point, the Kaidon allied himself with Thel 'Vadam's Swords of Sanghelios.[1]

'Talot’s clan operated the deep sea mines supplied Kolaar Manufactorum with many of the rare elements required for its production materials to create weapons matériel.[1]

Mission to Netherop[edit]

Main article: Battle of Netherop (2559)

In November 2559, Arbiter Thel 'Vadam sent out a call to several of his closest allies, requesting covert assistance in a mission that could have the potential to overthrow the Created and end their subjugation of the galaxy. 'Talot was one of those who received the call and responded, alongside kaidon Olabisi Varo'dai, bring with him to Netherop a flotilla of vessels including his flagship heavy corvette and five other Covenant corvettes. Once in position over Netherop, 'Talot and his flotilla spent a hundred units (roughly 100 hours) mapping Netherop's surface terrain. Once the Arbiter's A'uzr-pattern sword frigate Sword of Harmony emerged over Netherop, both kaidons met with the Arbiter aboard the ship to discuss the mission at hand.[1]

When 'Talot first boarded Sword of Harmony and entered the Obedientiaries Mess, he took a seat at the head of the table and began to address the Arbiter in an overly familial fashion, suspected by Thel to be an attempt to assert his superiority over the Oath Warden Crei 'Ayomuu, also present at the meeting. As the meeting progressed, 'Talot made his preferences for the mission clear; that his traditionalist stance did not support the idea of Olabisi as a female kaidon, and that he believed the Arbiter's proposed Concert of Worlds was necessary, and that his world had a vital place in it. Kaidons 'Talot and 'Varo'dai had disagreements with how to deal with Netherop's orbital mine shell, and the delay in 'Vadam's arrival had allowed this to fester into a light rivalry that prevented either from working together. As such, the task of clearing the mine shell that should have already been cleared was only half-complete, which would cause complications for the mission at hand. However, after a light reprimand from the Arbiter, 'Talot agreed to cooperate - though not before 'Ayomuu began to try and exploit that rivalry to weaken the party.[1]

During his time mapping Netherop, Ghe 'Talot had identified several buried cities belonging to the primitive civilisation that had once inhabited the world. He suggested these regions to the Arbiter for close-surveillance before the Arbiter conveyed the true nature of the mission to the group; to retrieve a superweapon that could purportedly kill a Guardian Custode.[1] The group chose to begin their investigation at a crater on the planet that displayed unusual properties gathered from 'Talot's surveillance; the base was radar-absorbing, and the crater located on Netherop's equator where it would be ideally positioned to fire into space. Once Sword of Harmony detected the tau surge of UNSC Hidden Point's slipspace entry over Netherop, the group boarded a trio of stealth-modified Mikpramu-pattern Phantom dropships to covertly clear through the mine shell and land on Netherop's surface.[3]

Once on Netherop, 'Talot repeatedly brushed off Olabisi 'Varo'dai and her rangers, eventually growing frustrated with the lack of progress and offering to send his Ghosts out to scout ahead once the group spotted an unusual vehicle heading toward them. The Arbiter permitted this, and two Ghosts manned by Daphob and Wyune were ordered to ride out. The order was not received, however, as 'Talot's Phantom had been boarded by human guerrilla fighters while the kaidons had been distracted. In the confusion, two humans stole 'Talot's Ghosts and attempted to attack the party of kaidons, before disappearing into a cave. 'Talot volunteered to pursue, though was stopped by the Arbiter who noted that 'Talot did not speak English and would not be able to commune with the human castaways. Eventually, the Arbiter was able to get an audience with the castaways' leader, Amalea Petrov, and the two groups formed a very loose alliance on the condition that the castaways would be returned to UNSC space.[4]

Throughout the mission, 'Talot accompanied the Arbiter as they travelled to the Sanctum of the Ancients in the centre of the crater, eventually coming to meet with Olympia Vale and her Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. 'Talot constantly expressed his unease at working with UNSC forces, instead proposing that the Swords of Sanghelios forces ambush the ODSTs and kill them to prevent them from gaining control of the Divine Hand. This was rebuked by 'Vadam, though 'Talot would continue to express his distrust for the UNSC.[5] Instead, 'Vadam hoped to try and coax the Defenders of the Sanctum (a group of Sangheili castaways stranded on Netherop led by Worldmaster Nizat 'Kvarosee) out without harming them. However, these talks quickly failed and the Defenders retreated inside their sanctum.[6]

'Talot and his warriors accompanied 'Vadam as they ventured inside the Sanctum in pursuit of 'Kvarosee and his troops. 'Vadam and 'Ayomuu, alongside 'Vadam's troops, led the attack with 'Talot ordered to remain twenty paces behind. 'Talot volunteered to lead the attack, though was refused as the Arbiter believed he alone had the power to reason with the Worldmaster.[7] As they caught up to 'Kvarosee, the Worldmaster used his ability to manipulate the Sanctum's nanotechnology to collapse the cave, killing Ghe 'Talot and some of his men. The turncoat blademaster, Meduz 'Ra'ashai, attempted to save Talot to little avail. At the time of the cave's collapse, Crei 'Ayomuu had also used his gas weapon to try and incapacitate the Defenders, though 'Kvarosee's nanotechnology was used to destroy the filters in the Swords' helmets, making them vulnerable to its effects. When Thel 'Vadam recovered some time later, he initially blamed the Oath Warden for 'Talot's death until being reassured that it was, in fact, 'Kvarosee's work.[2] Thel 'Vadam noted that while he was upset at his ally's death, he was in a way relieved that it would mean he could no longer be manipulated by Crei 'Ayomuu. However, this fact did not override the loss for him, nor the guilt felt at how he had failed to take into account whether 'Talot would be capable of repelling an ambush in such unfamiliar territory.[8]

Personality and traits[edit]

Ghe 'Talot was a small warrior with a proud bearing. He was twice as old as Thel 'Vadam. He wore many scars on his face and had a dented skull due to the ravages of the Blooding Years on his homeworld.[1]

He was a staid traditionalist who supported 'Vadam's aspirations of a united Concert of Worlds out of self-interest as idealism. His traditionalist values would often clash against the unorthodox approach of the pragmatic Olabisi Varo'dai. These traditionalist values also saw him preference older Sangheili units of measurement over the standards of the Covenant.[1]

Equipment[edit]

Outside of combat, Ghe 'Talot wore the gold ornamental harness of a kaidon, without a helmet. He carried both a plasma pistol and energy sword.[1]

During the 2559 expedition to Netherop, 'Talot wore a grey-coloured[2] ranger-commander harness.[3]
