Fireteam Jorogumo is a Spartan fireteam of the United Nations Space Command.[2][1] They are the security element assigned to work on Sanghelios as part of the treaty between the UNSC and Swords of Sanghelios.[3]

Current composition (2560)

Fireteam Joromugo forgoes the typical fireteam structure of most Spartan teams, and is divided into two individual squads: Jorumogo One and Joromugo Two. Each squad is deployed to distinct separate regions on Sanghelios to pursue various objectives aligned with the interests of the Arbiter, Thel 'Vadam. Each Spartan of Jorumogo is given a unique nickname derived from the Sangheili language, with origins and meaning only told to the given Spartan. This practice has been developed in the hopes of fostering co-operation between mixed-species units operating in the region.[3]

Operational history[edit]

Serving the Swords[edit]

By early 2560 as part of a treaty between the United Nations Space Command and Swords of Sanghelios, Fireteam Jorogumo was assigned as part of an allied attaché under the purview of Fleetmaster Arkad Nar 'Kulul, one of the leaders of the Sanghelios home defense fleet. During this time, the fireteam was at the disposal of Swords forces at the discretion of key kaidons and commanders.[1]

When the Banished attacked Suban in early 2560 with the intent to claim the moon's supply of kemuksuru for themselves, one of Fireteam Jorogumo's two squads were assigned by Fleetmaster 'Kulul to a Swords taskforce led by Fahl 'Nto and Orim 'Kasaan. Their mission called for them to infiltrate the Banished-occupied Mines of Shua'ree and clear it out. Before the taskforce launched their assault, 'Nto led Glyyss, Trell, and a Kig-Yar named Dahks on a recon mission to scout out the mine's entrance. When the reconnaissance, the team let Jaarov and Zhinn know that they would soon be in position for the attack, and that 'Kasaan could approach in his Phantom. Trell and Dahks remained in two separate vantage points on the exterior of the mine with the intent to provide overwatch. Reaching the mine's entrance, Glyyss and 'Nto eliminated the Banished guards. With this, 'Nto contacted Scorrin's Blade—the Hekar Taa-pattern blockade runner commanded by shipmistress Mahkee 'Chava and the mission's naval support—to confirm that the vessel's Banshees were on approach. Shortly thereafter, the Banshees arrived to dump plasma and fuel rods into the Banished's Barukaza Workshop siege-haulers being loaded with raw kemuksuru. The resulting explosions sent a wave of confusion through the occupying forces within the mines as 'Kasaan arrived with the Phantom at the mouth of the mine, releasing Jaarov, Zhinn, and at least a dozen Sangheili warriors into the chaos.[1]

As the Swords of Sanghelios forces swept through mines and slaughtered the mostly Sangheili Banished infantry, Chieftain Ipso appeared alongside two Jiralhanae Captains and confronted 'Nto, ultimately besting the Sangheili and knocking him to the ground. As Ipso brought the blade of his gravity hammer down on 'Nto, Glyyss leapt in front of him and took the blow instead. Glyyss was killed almost immediately as the massive blade lodged itself in their back. Plasma fire from the Phantom forced Ipso to retreat, giving Jaarov and Zhinn the chance to recover Glyyss's body. With the mission falling apart, 'Nto, the other Spartans, and the rest of the Swords forces retreated themselves. As they prepared to leave in 'Kasaan's Phantom, 'Nto promised that they would return when the time was right.[1]
