Wellsley is a Class-C Military A.I. who helps Major Antonio Silva and First Lieutenant Melissa McKay on Halo to set up and operate Alpha Base. He is only seen in Halo: The Flood and mentioned but not named in Halo: The Fall of Reach. He is consumed in the destruction of the Truth and Reconciliation.

Wellsely, like all other Artificial Intelligent beings, can choose his appearance. Wellsley chooses to appear as a stern-looking man with longish hair, prominent nose, and a collared coat . He is also a "dumb" A.I., meaning he was only created for one type of position, in this case being a military assistant. His name, appearance and personality come from the Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley, who won the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon. The A.I. Wellsley often refers to victories that the Duke made as though he were the Duke and not an artificial recreation. It is possible, though unconfirmed, that he was the other A.I for the UNSC Pillar of Autumn referenced by Keyes in Halo: Fall of Reach. Lieutenant Hikowa mentioned Wellsley as being for "point defense.". A factor against this would be that he was already in Major Silvia's HEV (Human Entry Vehicle) when he arrived. It is also possible that "his" purpose as a second AI would be to guide Marine Forces whilst Cortana would guide the Spartan and Fighter craft. He is presumed destroyed when the Truth and Reconciliation crashed onto the surface of Installation 04.
