Ushuaia Armory is a defense development and manufacturing firm that produces matériel for the United Nations Space Command. It is presumably based in Argentina on Earth. The armory likely also had subsidiaries on Reach as well.[Note 1]

Known developments

In 2535, after an unknown development period, Ushuaia's Siófok Firing Range produced the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/AA variant.[1] This helmet is an improved version of the helmet worn by the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers that was designed for and adopted by the UNSC Army's Airborne division.[Note 2] The helmet was also used by the Spartans, most notably Catherine-B320.

Ushuaia also performed a substantial amount of work on the development of the UNSC Marine Corps Battle Dress Uniform, particularly the CH252 helmet.[1] Ushuaia may not have been solely responsible for the BDU's development, as Misriah Armory also manufactures the CH252 helmet. However, it is possible that Ushuaia developed the helmet, while Misriah is responsible for the helmet's manufacture.[2]

Trivia

Ushuaia is the capital city of Argentina's Tierra del Fuego province. It is considered the southern-most city in the world.

Note

  1. ^ Siόfok is a city in Hungary. As many locations are Reach were named after aspects of Hungarian culture, including cities, it is likely that Siόfok Firing Range was located on Reach.
  2. ^ According to Halo: Reach's Armory, the AA helmet was developed as an improvement of the ODST helmet. According to Halo: The Essential Visual Guide, the former helmet's design was influenced by Ushuaia's extensive work on the Marine Corps BDU, and it is implied that the similarities between the AA and ODST helmets are not due to sharing the same design. Given the context of these apparently conflicting statements, it is possible that the AA helmet was not derived from the ODST helmet per se, but was instead intended to possess similar features and functionality, thus resulting in a similar overall appearance.
