Operational history

Lambda Serpentis

On April 2525, the vessel went on patrol in the Lambda Serpentis system. Unknown to most of the crew, SPARTAN-II's were onboard the Atlas to recover from their augmentations and bury their dead in the microgravity atmosphere.[1]

Common throughout most ships in the fleet, the Atlas had a detachment of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers from the 105th division.[2] One morning, in the ship's gym, an argument between a young John-117 and four Marines was caused by John accidentally almost crushing a Helljumper's foot with weights. It left three of the ODSTs dead and one badly wounded. It damaged the relationship between Spartans and the Helljumpers for nearly three decades.[3]

Trivia

  • It is named after the titan Atlas in Greek mythology, who held the sky on his back as punishment for rebelling against the gods.
