Texture buffers are active camouflage systems used on UNSC Prowlers.[1] They are designed to hide the craft from plain sight through the use of photoreactive coating or "active camouflage skin",[2] integrated to the ship's stealth ablative coating that also masks the ship's radar signatures.[1]
The UNSC also possesses more advanced visual stealth technology, as demonstrated by the ONI stealth ship ONI PRO-49776, using a form of camouflage "bubble" similar to Covenant active camouflage. However, this technology has not been seen in widespread use.[3]
