Kamchatka is a planet that was created by the Forerunner ecumene prior to the firing of the Halo Array.[1]
History
Kamchatka was a product of Forerunner astroengineering, created to serve as a link to the Domain. The planet has various structures located beneath its surface, including a communications hub.[1] The Stormbreak mountain range, considered to be "the broken spine" of Kamchatka, was mended by the Forerunners.[2]
In 2558, a communications hub on the planet activated, attracting the attention of both the United Nations Space Command and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant faction. The Covenant established an outpost on Kamchatka, while the UNSC intended to establish a military complex and power station to control the planet's Forerunner sites.[1] Fireteam Osiris was tasked with retrieving Doctor Catherine Halsey, who claimed to have information about recent attacks by Guardians on human colonies. Osiris was deployed to the surface of the planet, where a three-way battle ensued between them, Jul 'Mdama's Covenant forces, and Prometheans.[3]
