Iliad was a frigate used by the insurrectionists in the Eridanus system. It served as the flagship of Colonel Robert Watts during the 2510's.[1]

Operational history

In 2513, when the UNSC Navy arrived in the system to crush the rebel forces, Iliad, under the command of Colonel Watts, led the Insurrectionist fleet against them in the battle over Eridanus II. During the battle, Iliad provided cover for another rebel vessel, the Gateway, which was having problems with its Slipspace drive. Iliad fired towing cables to a UNSC cruiser and then accelerated, tearing the ship in half. Iliad then dragged the other half into another cruiser, destroying it as well. Soon after, Gateway and Iliad jumped into Slipspace and rendezvoused with the rest of the rebel fleet at pre-designated coordinates.[1]

On September 24, 2517, Watts and his troops used Iliad to intercept the cargo vessel UNSC Dartmouth en route to Eridanus II and used Pelicans to seize and board the craft.[2]

Trivia

  • The ship is named after Iliad, an epic poem by the ancient Greek poet Homer.
