The buildings were arranged on a grid of wide asphalt streets that stretched out into the Plains of Ida.[2] The tallest structure in Gladsheim was its water tower, which was supported by a large polycrete pillar.[3]

Gladsheim was the second city on Harvest to be attacked by the Covenant during the First Battle of Harvest. Thousands of civilians, including Wallace A. Jenkins' entire family, died in the attack. However, at least one person is known to have survived.
