Modular Dispersal Technology

Modular Dispersal Technology is technology relating to the detachment of starship sections while still in vacuum.[1]
Use
It was first used by the Forerunners during the war against the Flood to break off infected sections of ships.[1]
The Modular Dispersal Technology is equipped to certain Covenant warships for use. Modular Dispersal Technology was used by the Covenant to detach damaged, non-critical sections of a ship rather than return to a repair center. It was also used disperse a part of the ship which could leave any hostiles stranded in space. To do this the ship must detonate charges that would break off that part of the ship.
So far, only Covenant Assault Carriers have been seen utilizing this method,[2] however it is referenced that Covenant ships follow the same modular design.[1]
