Social Extensions

Hi there Jack, I have a question regarding the Social Extensions, could I possibly e-mail you over this? {{SUBST:User:SSJ4 Lewich/sig2}} 12:09, July 3, 2010 (UTC)

Sure, with the following caveats:
  1. If it's about the social tools currently enabled in here, there's absolutely nothing I can do. Halopedia's social tools contain bugs, and Wikia isn't too interested in fixing them because they have "discontinued armchairgm code support". Many of these bugs have been fixed in the upstream version of SocialProfile extension that I maintain.
  2. You may want to ask your question on mw:Extension talk:SocialProfile instead (or check the talk page archives), because that way your question will receive a wider audience and it just might help someone else, too. :-)
That being said, feel free to e-mail me at jack[ at ]countervandalism[ dot ]net. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:19, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
I guess there is no point, why did they discontinue it? It's so much better in my opinion. I take it, that it won't be going up again any time soon? {{SUBST:User:SSJ4 Lewich/sig2}} 12:22, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
The people who originally wrote the code for all social tools, the ArmchairGM developers, left Wikia for one reason or another and thus there's no-one around who understands the social code. In February 2008, Wikia released the SocialProfile MediaWiki extension to the general public and ever since I've been maintaining it.
But to answer your question, why did they discontinue it?, all I can say is: I really have no idea. You would have to ask Wikia's higher-ups about that. --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 12:31, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
