Codename: COALMINER

Codename: COALMINER is an ONI operative.

In 2552, COALMINER was involved in the classified project Operation: HYPODERMIC. COALMINER detected an intrusion, but not the identity of the intruder, into the ONI database which threatened to compromise HYPODERMIC, and informed Codename: SURGEON of the security breach. To minimize the damage COALMINER deleted the UNSC Circumference from the database of Reach Station Gamma.

This would cause difficulties later during the Battle of Reach as it prevented the AI, Doppler, from erasing the Circumference's NAV database as per the Cole Protocol, and requiring a SPARTAN-II team to destroy the ship, and the team suffered casualties in the process.
