Hardened Uplink

A Mark V/CQC helmet with the HUL device and UA attachment.

Usage

Variants

The HUL has three observed variants. The modularity of the MJOLNIR armor has made it possible to attach multiple modules on the helmet. In cases where a HUL and a Command Network Module (CNM) are both employed, the configurations are designated "FC", "FC-I", and "FC-I[2]" depending on the HUL variant.

Upgraded variant

The external Hardened Uplink-Improved (HUL-I) is an upgraded variant of the standard issue HUL unit. It has only been observed as compatible to the JFO variant.TEMPLATE ERROR: Template using invalid/disallowed fields: "sectionlinktext", "section"^[6]

"Box" variant and FC

The "box" variant resembles a cube, and can be worn on either side of the helmet. "Camera" variant and FC-I

The "camera" variant appears to resemble a camera of some sort, and is typically worn on the right side of the helmet. FC-I refers to the configuration in which this HUL variant and CNM are both attached to the helmet, though this configuration has only been observed on the MJOLNIR/AA variant, where a Command Network Module-Improved has been integrated within the helmet or the HUL attachment.^[5]

HUL[3] and FC-I[2]

Production notes

The HUL was an attachment for the CQC-class Mjolnir during the Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta. The cost of one HUL unit was 5,000 credits.^[11]
Helmets that have both the "Box" and "Camera"-type HULs available in Halo: Reach will refer to the "Camera"-type as the External Command Network Module. The INTRUDER-class MJOLNIR in Halo 5: Guardians also refers to its HUL as a CNM.
