Domain

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Template:New Content The Domain was a vast Forerunner information sharing network. It contained the ancestral records and all knowledge of the Forerunner civilization. Mature Forerunners were able to connect to the Domain through their personal armor anywhere, regardless of distance.[1][2] The Domain was also central in major Council proceedings, such as a political trial. Among other things, it was used by the judges to store archival and accounting material,[3] assess precedent, and to verify witnesses' testimonies.[4]

There was a mysterious quality to the Domain; sometimes, the records changed for an unknown reason. The changes were regarded as sacred, and were never reversed or corrected.[1] However, due to these anomalies, the Domain was not commonly used as means of communication; messages could be inexplicably altered on the way.[5] The Domain appears to be somehow related to a Forerunner's subconscious; according to an ancilla, Forerunner scholars theorized that the dreams of early Forerunners accessed the "ground" that the Domain is built upon.[4]

During the Forerunner-Flood war circa 100,000 BCE, access to the Domain had been blocked for all Forerunners.[6] This was revealed to be the work of the rampant AI Mendicant Bias, who had exhausted the entire system.[7]
