O'Brian was a member of the UNSC Marine Corps who participated in the Human-Covenant War [1]. He was an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper (noted as being one of the best snipers in the entire 105th ODST Division), and was stationed aboard the Destroyer 993-DD. During the operation, he was attacked by a Brute Chieftain that was wielding a Gravity Hammer until Cal-141 saves him but winds up hanging over a waterfall as he watched the Spartan battle the creature.
