ODST MJOLNIR armor is a MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor variant based on the venerable ODST armor, updated for compatibility with various powered armor systems.
GEN1 overview
Design details
On the GEN1 platform, ODST usage with MJOLNIR largely consists of standard shoulder pauldrons and chest plate on top of the default MJOLNIR Mark V (B) MJOLNIR.[2] The ODST helmet, however, is compatible with both the Mark V[2] and Mark VI systems, seeing the use of many technologies initially developed for the MJOLNIR program.[3] The ODST helmet on the Mark V (B) platform can support the AN/PCK-221 FARNDALE and AN/PZY-6011Y TYPHON Command Network Modules, a MK55 CBRN module or a Type O5 UA module.[2] As late as 2560, GEN1 ODST could still be requisitioned by Spartans, upgraded to be roughly equivalent to GEN3.[6][5]
GEN2 overview
Design details
For MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor (GEN2), the ODST armor was given extensive treatment by Cascade Stronghold Technologies at their test site at Mindoro, Lhopat, Cascade.[1] Almost inevitably due to the high numbers of former-ODST personnel within the Spartan Operations branch, the first-generation MJOLNIR/ODST variant was updated for compatibility with MJOLNIR (GEN2). Despite considerable differences from the standard version of the armor, the system contains many features expected of Special Forces gear, making it desirable for use by former ODSTs.[7]
The GEN2/ODST variant shares several design elements with its predecessor, though it also sports several changes. It still uses the standard helmet and shoulder pauldrons; it also features upgraded versions of the Mark 117 chestplate and the M/LBE Hard Case. However, the chestplate covers more of the torso below the thoracic cavity. The rest of the armor, including the greaves and cuisses, gauntlets, and boots, is more closely derived from the regular MJOLNIR (GEN2) milieu.[4]
Variants
A number of similar armor systems based on the ODST set exist on the GEN2 platform;
- Nightfall armor - an ODST-derived set employed by Office of Naval Intelligence operatives.
- HELLJUMPER-class Mjolnir - another ODST-derived set notably employed by Alpha Nine.
GEN3 overview
Variants
At least one ODST derived helmet exists on the GEN3 platform;
- FIREFALL-class Mjolnir - The first component in an ensemble that aims to eliminate the need for drop pods in Spartan orbital insertions.
In-game information
Halo 3 - Mark VI
The ODST helmet is available as an armor permutation in Halo 3 multiplayer. The Spartan version of the helmet differs from the standard version in the polarization color of its visor; regular ODST helmets have bluish-silver polarization, while the MJOLNIR ODST helmet retains the gold electroplating possessed by most MJOLNIR armor.[3] In The Master Chief Collection, the ODST helmet (like all helmets) can use any of the visor colours introduced in Season 3.

Halo: Reach - Mark V
- "The ODST helmet is one of the most recognizable faces of the UNSC's Special Forces."
In Halo: Reach, two upgrades are available for the helmet. The first, (UA/CNM), adds an up-armor plate with a Command Network Module on the left side, and the second, (CBRN/HUL), adds a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Module with a Hardened Uplink Module on the right side. The shoulder pauldrons, breastplate, and helmet of the ODST armor are also available for purchase in the Armory. Unlike in Halo 3, the ODST armor can be used in all game modes.
