It marked the turning point of the Human-Covenant War, starting a series of events that would lead to the destabilization of the Covenant, the reawakening of Forerunner artifacts, a resurgent invasion by the Flood, and eventually humanity's rescue from extinction. In the year 2552, the fleeing cruiser Pillar of Autumn discovered the ancient structure, abandoned for millennia.
