| Inside Menachite Mountain, [[ONI]]'s CASTLE Base is located on the planet [[Reach]], 2,000 meters below the [[Highland Mountains]]. Protected by the massive amount of granite, it is virtually bombproof, well defended and impenetrable. CASTLE Base could withstand the force equivalent to an 80 megaton nuke. The complex was originally a Titanium mine, but was closed down after the mine breached the [[Forerunner]] complex below.

| [[Dr. Catherine Halsey]] had an office in CASTLE Base, as did [[Colonel James Ackerson]]. The [[Spartan]]s were present at CASTLE Base many times. They were very familair with the place. During [[The Battle of Reach]], this was Spartan Team "Delta"'s fallback position. [[Spartan-043|William-043]], [[Spartan-030|Vinh-030]] and [[Spartan-039|Isaac-039]] arrived here. They were soon accompanied by [[Spartan-104|Fredric-104]] and [[Spartan-087|Kelly-087]]. It turned out that Dr. Halsey was left in the base as well in order to activate [[Operation: WHITE GLOVE]] to prevent the [[Covenant]] from getting [[UNSC]] technology.
