[[ONI]]'s CASTLE Base is located on the planet [[Reach]], 2,000 meters below the Highland Mountains.  Protected by the massive amount of granite, it is virtually bombproof, well defended and impenetrable.  CASTLE Base could withstand an 80 megaton nuke without a problem.
Inside Menachite Mountain, [[ONI]]'s CASTLE Base is located on the planet [[Reach]], 2,000 meters below the [[Highland Mountains]].  Protected by the massive amount of granite, it is virtually bombproof, well defended and impenetrable.  CASTLE Base could withstand the force equivalent to an 80 megaton nuke. The complex was originally a Titanium mine, but was closed down after the mine breached the [[Forerunner]] complex below.


It was secretly built to lead into an underground [[Forerunner]] structure, that was discoved by [[Dr. Catherine Halsey]] and the surviving [[Spartans]] that were on Reach.
[[Dr. Catherine Halsey]] had an office in CASTLE Base, as did [[Colonel James Ackerson]]. The [[Spartan]]s were present at CASTLE Base many times. They were very familair with the place. During [[The Battle of Reach]], this was Spartan Team "Delta"'s fallback position. [[Spartan-043|William-043]], [[Spartan-030|Vinh-030]] and [[Spartan-039|Isaac-039]] arrived here. They were soon accompanied by [[Spartan-104|Fredric-104]] and [[Spartan-087|Kelly-087]]. It turned out that Dr. Halsey was left in the base as well in order to activate [[Operation: WHITE GLOVE]] to prevent the [[Covenant]] from getting [[UNSC]] technology.
 
[[Master Chief]], together with a strike team of fellow Spartans, the [[ODST]] Locklear and [[Admiral Whitcomb]], saved Dr. Halsey, her surviving Spartans and captured a [[Forerunner]] [[Forerunner Crystal|artifact]] that altered [[Slipstream]].

Summary

Dr. Catherine Halsey had an office in CASTLE Base, as did Colonel James Ackerson. The Spartans were present at CASTLE Base many times. They were very familair with the place.
