"Hell, we didn't even have to change magazines."
— Staff Sergeant Nolan Byrne, after clearing a room of 12 rebels with the M7S.

The M7S Submachine Gun[1] is a United Nations Space Command ground firearm.

It is also known as the Suppressed SMG, or M7S, and misnomerically known as the Silenced SMG.

Background

The M7S is a variant of the M7 Caseless Submachine Gun, featuring an external flash and sound suppressor on the barrel along with a laser sight. Muzzle flash is significantly decreased, and firing the weapon gives a barely noticeable sound, increasing stealth applications for the M7S Submachine Gun and increasing accuracy from decreased recoil. However, power is decreased because of the slowing of projectile velocity from the suppressor.

Appearances

This weapon can be seen on an example map included in the files of Halo 2 Vista's built-in map editor. The map is simply named "Example" and the map's description is "This is just a small example of what you can do as a Halo 2 cartographer!". The suppressed M7 can also be found in the Halo Graphic Novel and in Halo: First Strike where SPARTAN-117 carried two Suppressed SMGs but only used a Battle Rifle during Operation: FIRST STRIKE.

In Halo: Contact Harvest, Sergeant Johnson and his squad of militiamen used suppressed M7's to take out a room of 12 rebels in the prologue of the book.

A suppressor attachment located at the tip of the barrel.
