RKD Group was a think-tank on Earth.^[1]

History

Human-Covenant War

The group designed and developed Project HAYABUSA, a powered combat armor similar in many ways to the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor, though with many differences. In late 2536, they presented to the UNSC Ordnance Commission their answer to the self-contained powered armor problem by showing HAYABUSA.^[1]

Post-War

After the Human-Covenant War, RKD developed the Mirmillion and Legionnaire variants of the MJOLNIR [GEN2] armor.^[2] They offered the LEGIONNAIRE armor for licencing to smaller companies wishing to enter the competitive realm of powered armor manufacturing.^[3]

Trivia

Since RKD group's Hayabusa Armor is based on that of Ryu Hayabusa of the Ninja Gaiden series of video games, it is possible that RKD is an abbreviation of "Ninja Ryukenden", the original name of that series.
Post-war, the RKD group tends to name their armors after rank of the Roman Legion and classes of gladiators.

-They built and designed a Power Armor that was a Rival to The [[MJOLNIR]] project that was called [[Project HAYABUSA]]. The armor was called the "Hayabusa". It was originally set up in 2166 by the military to find the best course of action in defeating the rebel groups Koslovic and Frieden. However shortly after the end of the rebellion the RKD was disbanded because frankly, it had no more use. However after the battle of harvest in 2531 it was recreated (again by the military) to find and alternative means to fighting the covenant because it was becoming clear after the outer colonies fell that the UNSC's current weaponry was failing miserably. In 2498 the members of the think tank had come up with the idea of a super self powered suit however didn't find funding for it until much later (Around the time the Mark V was made by Dr. Hasley).
