He lost a war with one of Vadam's rivals. The new Kaidon had Pipit and his soldiers in the [[Vadam Keep|keeps jails]], where they were mocked and fed scraps to prolong their life of torture. Many of his brethren killed themselves, to keep what was left of their honour. Pipit managed to escape after weeks of starvation. He had managed to fit through the bars of his window and scale the cliffs before swimming down a river.For many days, he walked around eating vermin before entering a desert. There, he trained for for many years, his hardness brought him allies from other states, willing to live no matter the odds. As his allies attacked the keep, Pipit scaled the walls of the tower and killed his surprised usurpers. He had their bodies thrown into the river where,legend had it, ran purple for a week. Upon becoming Kaidon, he had his former Vadamese soldiers - who were to cowardly to follow him during his escape years earlier - to be executed.

After weeks of starvation, Ther became thin enough to squeeze through the bars of his window, scale the [[Kolaar Mountain|cliffs]] below, and swim downriver to [[Vadam Valley]]. For many days he walked, eating vermin and scraps before entering the [[Vadam Desert|vast deserts]] of [[Yermo]]. There, he wandered for many years, building strength and hardness, making allies with other wanderers. Ther 'Vadam was a renowned Kaidon of Vadam and the head of the House of 'Vadam, rulers of the state of Vadam.[1]
