Corporal Perez is a character who originally appears in the 2003 E3 preview for the first-person shooter game Halo 2, and appears in Halo 2.
Sir! Corporal Perez, "A" Company, CP's this way.

In preview he meets the Master Chief when his Pelican lands in the human controlled areas of New Mombasa. He serves as the Master Chief's guide until they reach Staff Sergeant Marcus Banks' position, which is under attack. In Halo 2, the Master Chief meets Corporal Perez inside a building in New Mombasa where a bunch of Marines are holed up. He leads the Master Chief to Sergeant Bank's position on the roof, and then he simply becomes another background Marine. Based upon his use of the expletive "coño" during the trailer, he is presumed to be of Spanish nationality or descent.

According to both the E3 preview and dialogue in Halo 2, Corporal Perez is with "A"(alpha) Company. Perez was mentioned, but not seen, during the Battle of Installation 05, in which the UNSC forces and the Arbiter raced against each other to gain possession of the Activation Index, while the Flood tried to stop them. McKenzie and Perez were with Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Avery Johnson, and evidently the only two Marines to reach the Index chamber alive.

Perez is mentioned, but not seen, in the in-game cut scene on the Quarantine Zone (Level) in which the humans and the Arbiter race against each other and the Flood to gain possession of the , which the Covenant call the "Sacred Icon". The cut scene shows Miranda Keyes reaching for the Index with Sergeant Johnson saving her after the Flood tentacle fails to hold. He says a short comment to her, and then he yells out, "McKenzie? Perez? How's our exit? [Do] you hear me, Marines?" That's the last link to them from the game. As the Arbiter approaches Keyes and Johnson's position within the Icon's chamber, he steps over the remains of two human marines, presumably McKenzie and Perez. It is likely that the two were acting as sentries while Keyes and Johnson attempted to retrieve the Icon, but were eliminated by the Flood or the Arbiter himself. This is not certain, however, and others have theorized that Perez and McKenzie were among the marines rescued by the Master Chief on High Charity, or the two rescued by the Arbiter on Delta Halo.
McKenzie and Perez were tasked with securing the exit from the chamber, but it is unknown what exactly happened to them during this endeavor. They may have been killed by the Flood, killed by the Arbiter, or captured/killed by the Brutes, as when Johnson calls them for their status, they do not respond. The Arbiter arrived shortly after, capturing Keyes, Johnson, and the Index.

*He is most likely named after the Bungie programmer, Adrian Perez.
*Based upon his use of the expletive "coño" during the Halo 2 E3 demo, he is presumed to be of Spanish nationality or descent.
*Perez is the only other marine to share the "Dear Sarge" line with Chips Dubbo during the mission Delta Halo.

"Sir! Corporal Perez, "A" Company, CP's this way."
— Perez, upon greeting John-117 during the Battle of Mombasa.

Corporal Perez was a UNSC Marine assigned to A Company. He fought in the Battle for Earth, as well as in the Battle of Installation 05.

Biography[edit]

Battle of Earth[edit]

Main articles: Battle for Earth, Battle of Mombasa

During the start of the Covenant invasion of Earth, Perez and the rest of A Company were sent to reinforce the defenses of New Mombasa, Kenya, which was under attack by Covenant forces from the CAS-class assault carrier Solemn Penance. The Master Chief met the Corporal in the proximity of a Marine field command post in a Mtangulizi Kampuni building where some Marines were held up, wounded, and making a last-ditch stand against the Covenant. He led the Master Chief to Staff Sergeant Banks' position on the roof.[1]

Search for the Index[edit]

Perez was mentioned, but not seen, during the Battle of Installation 05, in which the UNSC forces and the Arbiter raced against each other to gain possession of the Activation Index, while the Flood tried to stop them. McKenzie and Perez were with Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Avery Johnson, and evidently the only two Marines to reach the Index chamber alive.

The Arbiter arrived shortly after, capturing Keyes, Johnson, and the Index.[2]
