Template:Character Infobox Corporal Vasily "Vaz" Beloi is a human non-commissioned officer in the UNSC Marine Corps and an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper.

Biography

After enlisting in the UNSC, Beloi saw eight years of combat until the end of the Human-Covenant War,[1] and participated in over 100 SOEIV drops.[2] At some point during the war, he and fellow ODST Malcolm Geffen hijacked a Spirit on Imber to exfiltrate from the planet.[3] In 2553, Beloi and Geffen went to Sydney to honor Emanuel Barakat, a deceased ODST. [4]They were hand-picked by the Office of Naval Intelligence Commander-in-Chief Margaret Parangosky to serve under Captain Serin Osman as part of a black operations team designated Kilo-Five. Operating on the UNSC Port Stanley, they participated in a number of missions. These included dropping off tagged Sangheili weaponry to Avu Med 'Telcam on New Llanelli to aid Sangheili Insurrection, evacuating Mike Spenser from Reynes, and witnessing the UNSC Ariadne's destruction by Venezia [5] [6]

At one point, they seized the Covenant auxiliary ship Piety and captured a Huragok. Later on, they entered Shield World 006, a Forerunner Dyson sphere, and recovered the human survivors inside while arresting Dr. Halsey under orders from Admiral Parangosky.

Personality and traits

Beloi holds strong personal concepts of right and wrong and is uncompromising in his moral views, having a tendency of seeing moral conflicts as black and white.[7] As a result, he was greatly distraught after learning about the origins of the SPARTAN-II and SPARTAN-IIIs programs as well as the young age of the SPARTAN-IIIs of Gamma Company.[8] His sense of justice can be quite extreme, as demonstrated when he planned on killing Dr. Halsey for the suffering caused as a result of the SPARTAN-II program, convinced that justice would never be served otherwise.

He is of Russian descent and is a Russian citizen.[9][10] This is evident, among other things, by his name, his heavy accent,[11] and his referring to World War II as the "Great Patriotic War."[12]

Appearance

Beloi is described as having characteristically Slavic facial features, with high cheekbones, close-shaved hair and a lean overall appearance.[13] He has a scar running the full width of his jaw,[14] a result of a close-quarters encounter with a Sangheili warrior.[15]

Trivia

  • He greatly enjoys watching the GlobeWar doomsday movies.[16]
  • Vaz enjoys hockey, wondering if he could watch the finals, which were being held in St. Petersburg, on Waypoint.[17]
