"I need a fireteam I can depend on and, until you prove otherwise, you’re it."

Fireteam Crimson is a team of SPARTAN-IV supersoldiers. Crimson was assigned to the UNSC Infinity during the ship's second expedition to the Forerunner shield world Requiem in February 2558. Operating on Requiem, Crimson is frequently assigned on ground missions in which they combat the shield world's resident Promethean constructs and the Covenant remnant.[1]

History

In 2558 Crimson is deployed in a joint UNSC military operation on Requiem alongside Fireteams Castle, Majestic, Domino, and Ivy. Spartan Jared Miller is personally assigned to Crimson as their mission handler. Crimson is dropped behind-enemy-lines to assist marines in neutralizing Covenant forces in the area. In an attempt to stop the Covenant from establishing permanent bases throughout Requiem, Crimson is also given the objective to destroy four power cores acting as short-range wireless transceivers, and is successful. After mopping up whatever Covenant forces are left in the area, Miller sends a Pelican dropship for extraction. Commander Sarah Palmer congratulates them on their mission success.[2]

Fireteam Crimson is sent to capture a Covenant-held power station on Requiem, Sniper Alley. They're tasked with eliminating all Covenant forces within the area. Miller detects strong concludes that the Covenant are siphoning large amounts of energy from a nearby Forerunner structure. Spartan Robert Dalton comes online and readies an orbital-strike from the Infinity to destroy the target energy source. The target is destroyed by Infinity, and Fireteam Crimson is extracted from the area.[3] Crimson and Majestic are sent north of the UNSC's area of operations in Requiem in order to shut down Forerunner power generators at the Fortress. Both teams are sent to their individual locations to complete their objectives. Upon insertion, both Crimson and Majestic have their long-range communications jammed, but deactivate the jammers. The area is quickly swarmed with Promethean Crawlers and Promethean Watchers as Crimson fights to disable the arrays powering the Forerunner structure. Initiated by Palmer, the mission turns into a competition both fireteams trying to complete their mission objectives first. Majestic temporarily takes the lead, but Crimson eventually beats Majestic. Dalton arrives in a Pelican dropship for Crimson's extraction.[4]

Next Crimson is sent to the The Refuge, a jungle Forerunner structure that scientists are preparing to set up shop in. They are attacked by more Promethean forces and activate a star chart. Miller processes the data and Palmer tries to get them extracted. The door locks, shutting Crimson in the facility, and Promethean Knights arrive in the area. Crimson beats off the foes while Miller opens the door allowing Crimson to escape on Dalton's Pelican. [5] Crimson is then sent into a Covenant dig site at The Cauldron, a Forerunner area. The Covenant resistance is strong, leading Palmer to wonder what they are guarding. Crimson fights its way to a mysterious artifact guarded by Promethean Knights. After fighting them off, Crimson recovers the Artifact, boards the Pelican, and brings it back on Infinity. [6]

Crimson is sent in to The Gate, a location that UNSC Marines have failed to take from Covenant. After fighting through Kig-Yar and Unggoy they face Promethean resistance. The incoming Prometheans are dispatched by Crimson, and Miller tasks the team with disabling pylons controlling Forerunner turrets. Dalton comes in and evacuates Crimson after they face more translocating Knights and Crawlers. They are sent to respond to a Science Team's Distress Call. [7]. The aforementioned science team hid behind a forcefield when the Covenant attack, and were the science team assigned to the Cauldron. Crimson destroys Covenant communications arrays, and finds beacons and IFF tags from the science team. Dr. Morgan Rivera is brought on coms who gives Crimson her location. Crimson fights through Covenant and rescues her and her team. [8]

Next Crimson is sent in to evacuate Marine squad Hacksaw who has been attacked by Covenant at the Fortress. They are dropped in and beat back waves of Covenant forces to rescue the Marines. The group moves to the top of the Fortress to be evacuated by Dalton, but Phantoms arrive carrying Sangheili Warriors and Sangheili Zealots. Crimson destroys Phantoms and the Sangheili and are evacuated. [9] En route to the Refuge, Crimson is shot down in Sniper Alley by nearby anti-air turrets and temporarily thought dead. Miller learns Crimson is alive and they are sent to take out the turrets. Covenant forces arrive supplanted by Heavy orbital insertion pods, but Crimson eliminates the Covenant and the turrets and continues with their mission. [10] Reaching the Refuge, Crimson sees no sign of Gagarin team, the science team based there. They learn Gagarin activated Forerunner artifacts, and Crimson deactivates them under resistance from Promethean forces. They get on a Pelican and leave, not finding Gagarin team. [11]

Commander Palmer deploys Crimson to a rocky area of Requiem to hunt for Parg Vol, a Sangheili terrorist and associate of Jul 'Mdama. After facing heavy Covenant resistance, they are unable to kill Vol and he escapes. [12] Crimson is then sent to Galileo Base, a science facility on Requiem under heavy attack by Covenant forces. They manage to beat back the Covenant and drive them away from Galileo Base. [13] Next Crimson goes to Two Giants, a canyon with two Beam emitters to assist Marine squad Mountain codenamed Two Giants. Beating off Promethean forces Crimson retrieves the marines and activates Forerunner technology in the towers. [14]The Covenant respond by sending an entire fleet of foes from a CCS-class battlecruiser. Palmer drops in several Mantis mech suits which Crimson uses to beat back the fleet while the cruiser is destroyed. [15] Vol is once again located, this time re-taking the Gate location with his Covenant forces. Crimson neutralizes him and several Covenant and Promethean warriors. [16]

Soon after Crimson is then sent to disable a Covenant communications array at the site the Covenant had previously had anti-air turrets. The array had led to the death of Fireteam Castle, and Crimson rushed the location and tapped into the array before disabling it. [17] UNSC Infinity finds data possibly leading to Jul 'Mdama's location. The data places 'Mdama at the Two Giants location where a tower has been retaken by the Covenant forces. Activating Forerunner technology, a portal opens and Crimson steps through. [18] They emerge in the Fortress location and reestablish communications primarily with the AI Roland. After fighting off enemies Crimson steps through another portal, chasing 'Mdama. [19] Crimson emerges in the middle of Covenant enemies at the Cauldron, and fights through them to reach 'Mdama. Infinity bombs 'Mdama's location and he drops the Didact's Gift which is brought to Galileo Base. [20] However, the Covenant attack Galileo Base with the intent of re-securing the gift. Crimson beats them back and activates the defense systems, holding back the Covenant but Prometheans translocate in. Crimson fights them all off and leaves for Fireteam Majestic to take the gift to Infinity. [21]

On Crimson's next deployment, they are sent to the Gate to investigate Dr. Leslie Boyd's power fluctuations back at the Refuge with only Roland and Miller to help them. They are being caused by translocating Prometheans, and they are at risk of destroying Boyd's power generators. They defend them from raids of Prometheans until Boyd can finish his work and block their translocations. Boyd opens a portal for Crimson, now able to control the portal's locations. [22] At the Refuge the science base becomes under attack by Prometheans, which are driven off by Crimson. [23] A battlecruiser begins sending a Covenant army down to the Refuge, and Crimson defends the location while Fireteam Shadow takes out the cruiser. Successfully defending Dr. Boyd, Crimson is gets on a Pelican to their next objective. [24] Crimson arrives at Forward Base Magma to defend power generators from Covenant forces. After doing so, Roland finds Gabriel Thorne's IFF tag in the area, and finds it alone with signs of a struggle. [25] Crimson is dropped off in Covenant forces to try and find Thorne. Despite defeating a large amount of Covenant, Thorne is not found. Dalton's Pelican comes for evac but is shot down as Phantoms and Banshees converge on Crimson's position. [26]
