The Type 18 Magnetic/Bayonet-style Claymore were magnetic and capable of sticking to metal surfaces. It could also be impaled into nonmagnetic surfaces.{{Ref/Reuse|HWUPrototype}} When attaching to a surface, four supports would unfold to hold the claymore in place. The Type 18 is activated by pressing a switch, which would in turn active a red light on the side. After activation, the explosive could detonate within 5 seconds.{{Ref/Reuse|HLP}}
