In ''Halo Wars'', the citadel turret is the main defensive building, serving as the Covenant equivalent of the UNSC [[M5 Talos]] base turret. They become available for construction at the citadel's turret sockets when an Outpost is upgraded to a Keep. For the specialized upgrades, the player may only use one upgrade at a time. Extra weapons do not affect the plasma cannon's operation. As well as weapon upgrades, citadel turrets can be further upgraded to medium turrets, and then large turrets at the [[Covenant temple]].
