==Operational history==
After Eridanus II fell in [[2530]], the unit was reassigned to defend other [[human colonies]]. Retaining the "E2" designation despite the loss of their homeworld, they became known as one of the "ghost battalions".{{Ref/Reuse|evo}} Following the [[Fall of Reach]] in [[2552]], elements of E2-BAG/1/7 were reassigned to [[New Mombasa]], [[Earth]] along with other units as a part of the UNSC's efforts to bolster the defenses of Earth's [[space elevator|tether]] cities.{{Ref/Reuse|evo}} During the [[Battle of Earth]], the Third Squad from the Kilo Company of E2-BAG/1/7 fought alongside [[Master Chief Petty Officer|MCPO]] [[John-117]] in New Mombasa. *It is possible that [[A Company]], elements of which are encountered by John-117 near the end of the ''[[Halo 2]]'' level ''[[Metropolis]]'', was part of E2-BAG/1/7.
*It is possible that the designation "E2-BAG/1/7" is simply an administrative designation, similar to the prefix "V" used for infantry battalions in the [[Wikipedia:United States Marine Corps|US Marine Corps]] (ex. "V27 for 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment).
*It is not possible for Kilo Company to be a part of E2-BAG/1/7 along with Alfa Company. Each Battalion has up to 4 Co in the Halo Universe. See Battalion page. A regiment has up to 3 Battalions with Companies spanning from A - M, excluding J. Which means that Kilo is part of 3rd Battalion, not 1st. This confirms that A Co is actually part of E2-BAG/1/7 while K Co belongs to E2-BAG/3/7. This may confirm that the majority, if not the entire regiment, survived the fall of Eridanus II. This is supported by the fact a Colonel was present during the Battle of New Mombasa in Halo 3: ODST. Although, Marines were consequently sporting different sets of armor between H2, H2A, and H3O and cannot be confirmed or categorized as all part of the same unit.
