From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Images Again
Hey, everyone. Just wanted to make sure that you all know that image uploading is up and running. I'd like to put together a team to go through the wiki and upload all the images eventually. To upload an image, click on "Upload File" in the sidebar, and the rest is self explanitory. Have fun! - AgentSeethroo 11:14, 1 Sep 2005 (EDT)
The Big Move
Report any problems that you have with the Wiki. I'd be surprised if there weren't any. --Steve (talk) 16:59, 11 Aug 2005 (EDT)
Some pages are missing history. We can live with that, right? --Steve (talk) 07:52, 12 Aug 2005 (EDT)
Gettin' Started
All members can discuss in this space, not just admins. Any ideas regarding Wiki organization would be awesomely appreciated.
Okay. I got the front page settled for now. Now I start on the Humans. I think links should list: History, Human Technology and Transportation (or something along those lines), Characters, and whatever else we can think up. -- AgentSeethroo 14:23, 5 Nov 2004 (Eastern Standard Time)
Changed Main page - broken up
I thought it'd be an OK thing to break the Halo games from the universe, and both from the main page, into sections. If you don't like it, I can change it back, or someone can just un-edit the page change. --Buz
Looks good to me. I've been working on this stuff a bit (while I have spare time at work). Whatcha think so far? --AgentSeethroo
More Content
Okay, I added a walkthrough section for halo 1 and 2 on the main page.
But this has made the page a little lopsided...
What should go on the right side? Weapons? Vehicles? Something?? Gimme some ideas. -- AgentSeethroo 11:17, 28 Jan 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
- "Technology" heading with links to Weapons, Vehicles and stuff? Maybe a timeline? I'd expect that to be fairly long though. --Dragonclaws 14:46, 28 Jan 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
- That sounds pretty good to me. I'll whoop it up. As for the timeline, that's gonna be a BIG undertaking...but I might throw it on the front page so it can start. -- AgentSeethroo 14:59, 28 Jan 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
- Or now that I think about it, maybe a list of the Halo novels would be better? --Dragonclaws 12:46, 25 Feb 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
Images
Arg, images! Well, I see that you're taking care of getting images fixed up, DragonClaws, and I appreciate it a whole bunch.
I tried to enable uploading onto the wiki, but for some reason, it's not wanting to work correctly, so I'm gonna have my php experts take a look and get this all fixed up.
Until then, thanks for all your hard work! -- AgentSeethroo 15:54, 28 Jan 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
Red Vs Blue
Have you considered adding a section for Red Vs Blue? It might help to beef up your site a bit, at least giving it the same kinda basis as the Homestar Wiki. Give a bit of trivia and whatnot. Up to you, but I think it could really improve the site a bit. And if you've never been there and have no idea what I'm talking about, it's a site where they use Halo Mulitplayer to act out Episodes of their Web-Show. It's actually quite funny and well done. Give it a chance if you haven't already done so.

- We have the beginings of a Red vs Blue article. --Dragonclaws 01:19, 9 Mar 2005 (Eastern Standard Time)
Movie
I've made the start of a page on the Halo Movie. I would think that it deserves a link on the front page, however, I don't know how to add it myself as everything is about games. Thoughts? Also, should The Flood have a link under "Inside"?--Dragonclaws 14:18, 25 Aug 2005 (EDT)
I added the movie link, I'll look into the flood link. - AgentSeethroo
Behind the scenes...
there could be a link to the real life people who created halo on the front page. The authors, voice actors, and designers behind everything could always use a little more credit. -Ed
Why?
I'm sorry, but why are you bringing back Halopedia as an independent wiki? The Halopedia of Wikia is an evolution of Halopedia.org, and it is thriving. When Halopedia was first made in 2004, there was nothing like it. The other Halo Wiki was a repository of multiplayer knowledge and was not that comparable with Halopedia. When Halopedia.org failed, everyone migrated the wiki to the basically dead halo.wikia.com and had it keep the Halopedia name and community. Why start Halopedian.com now? It isn't necessary to divide the Halopedia community and halo.wikia.com because there is no distinction at this point. --Dragonclaws 18:24, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- I agree with Dragonclaws. I have also listed several points on 306's talk page on why I oppose the restoration of the old Halopedia. Though, it is good to see her again - too bad I joined AFTER November. How about a day when we change the .wikia layout to monobook just to experience that feeling again. -- Forerunner 19:52, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- No matter what, Wikia is going to have a Halo wiki of some sort, even if everyone moved here. Our goal in bringing the site back is to provide an independent alternative to the Halopedia on Wikia, just like how there is Bulbapedia and Wikia's Pokemon wiki or mariowiki.com and the Wikia Mario wiki. These communities exist side-by-side and it's ultimately better for everyone. We've seen Wikia making offers to independent wikis, and we don't think one company should have a monopoly on wikis. Unfortunately, none of this was considered when the site moved to Wikia. Regarding hosting--we have a much more powerful server now and are prepared to buy more servers as the site grows. --Halopedia One 20:32, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- It still doesn't make sense to attempt to recreate Halopedia as an individual site like making two ships of Theseus. "Will the real Halopedia please stand up?" Maybe you could make another Halo wiki without compromising the Halopedia identity. As it is, it just seems strange. Incidentally, are you AgentSeethroo? --Dragonclaws 02:38, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
- I thought that too, but he'd use his account here. Also, I don't see any advertisements. How exactly are you going to keep this running without income? The Pokemon and Mario wikis are both in existence because they were simply unaware of the other. They have their own followers and work independently of each other. They're trying to one-up their competitor and take its visitors. Two Halopedias run by the same people isn't going to work in a competitive environment. halopedian.com would have quite some influence over older members by re-introducing them to the original... while halo.wikia.com would keep the majority of the population who want the information now as opposed to spending a year writing it up. Besides, we have too few who remember the old halopedia, and few of those got an account before 3 November 2005.-- Forerunner 09:43, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
- We're prepared to serve advertisements to logged-out users when the time comes. And Wikia creates a wiki for every subject no matter what--a Google search could have solved anyone's unawareness. Back to the matter at hand, you're right. The same people should not run both sites indefinitely. For example, if enough people took on the task of cleaning up this wiki, we could refer people to Wikia while they work. At some point we would branch off, but competition doesn't have to mean hostility. --Halopedia One 13:00, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
- I still see no point as to why we should change back. The current site at Wikia is perfectly fine, and changing would just cause more confusion and unnecessary work. We are already one of the most popular wikis on Wikia, and have the advantage of being in touch with Microsoft through them. --General5 7 19:41, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
Like I said, Wikia is not going to give up that wiki. You can continue to edit there and nothing is going to happen to it. --Halopedia One 20:03, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
- But the fact still remains: there is no huge advantage to changing back to the original Halopedia. --General5 7 20:18, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
- It's fine that you disagree. The important thing is that the original, independent Halopedia is back and there's an alternative to Wikia. --Halopedia One 17:10, 14 August 2010 (EDT)
