Chief Warrant Officer Dariya Voronkov is a scientist working for the United Nations Space Command as part of their contribution to the Anvil Initiative - a joint cooperative effort in conjunction with the Swords of Sanghelios.[1]
Biography
Early in her military career, Voronkov fought in the Insurrection, participating as part of the UNSC Army Corps of Engineers' operations on Hellas. During the conflict, insurrectionist forces were able to take control of an AC-220 Vulture gunship and a handful of AV-14 Hornets, and used the craft to conduct a bombing run of the UNSC Army's firebase on the ground. At the time of the attack, Voronkov was near one of the base's M5 Talos automated turrets and was caught in the blast, resulting in the loss of both of her legs - something she bitterly recalls noting that she was never supposed to be there in the first place. Following this event, Voronkov harboured a deep hatred for the insurrection, though these sentiments softened over time.[1]
Voronkov survived the Human-Covenant War, eventually rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. By March 2560, she served as an engineer aboard ANVIL Station as part of the wider initiatives to bring the UNSC and their Sangheili allies closer together. On March 3 of that year, Voronkov worked with Doctor Luther Mann and Sangheili artisan Khar 'Tvorn to conduct an analysis of the newly-discovered ASSAILER-class armor, used by Janissaries and recovered during operations on Venezia.[1]
