A child prodigy with an innate skill in linguistics, Olympia Vale became fluent in Sangheili to pass the time on a prolonged slipspace trip to Earth. After graduating from university, Vale followed in her mother's footsteps and joined the Office of Naval Intelligence. Olympia Vale became a liaison between the UEG and the Swords of Sanghelios, eventually participating in a joint mission to the Ark where she proved to be a capable soldier as well. Following this, she was recruited as a Spartan-IV and assigned to Fireteam Osiris. During the Created crisis, Spartan Vale was stationed on Sanghelios, where she worked closely with Arbiter Thel 'Vadam and others within his faction. In late 2559, Vale became involved in a desperate hunt for an ancient weapon that could defeat Cortana's Guardians.

Located in former Covenant space, the planet Heian once served the alien empire as a key logistics base. In 2544, Spartan-II Cal-141 and a squad of ODSTs were sent on a mission to Heian to assassinate a Prophet. During their time on the world, the team found and documented ruins of structures bearing resemblance to those of various cultures on Earth, as well as architecture that one may expect to find on a Forerunner installation. Following the Human-Covenant War, Heian became the site of several scientific excavations with the intent of unlocking the secrets of its past, particularly in respect to ancient human history.

With its heritage tracing back to hunting tools and weapons used in conflicts between various Jiralhanae factions on Doisac, spike weaponry saw less usage after the species' induction into the Covenant, with many Jiralhanae warriors adopting the empire's ubiquitous plasma weapons instead. The manufacturing of spike weapons remained exclusive to Doisac until the months leading up to the Great Schism, when the High Prophet of Truth secretly ordered the Sacred Promissory on High Charity to expand its production scope to include various kinds of Jiralhanae matériel. Following the end of the Human-Covenant War, the Jiralhanae have continued to make use of spike weaponry alongside other weapons originating from their more savage, pre-Covenant history.

Introduced in 2535, just two years before the outbreak of the Human-Covenant War, the Paris-class heavy frigate quickly proved itself to be an extremely capable warship for its size. Its effectiveness led the UNSC to commission huge quantities of the Paris-class heavy frigate from SinoViet Heavy Machinery, resulting in ships of this class participating in some of the fiercest battles of the war. Although newer classes of frigate—including the Strident and Mulsanne-classes—have been introduced to take over the roles fulfilled by the Paris, the older heavy frigates remain in service after the war, deployed both alone and as part of larger fleets.

During a salvage operation on Installation 00 in early June 2559, Voridus disabled local Forerunner Sentinel defenses to access the quarantined crash site of High Charity, inadvertently releasing the Flood from containment. While their forces initially had to retreat, Voridus and his brother Pavium eventually defeated a Flood form that was maturing into a Gravemind. With the Flood once again contained within High Charity's remains, the Banished pillaged the city's data stores and retrieved a Forerunner entanglement dish, which Atriox used to send a command to Escharum: to rally the Banished at Reach.

Known as the "blood-moon" of Sanghelios, Suban is one of the Sangheili homeworld's two natural satellites. Since ancient times, Suban has been recognized as a place of great religious significance, especially for the members of the ascetic order. However, the moon is most famous as the only known source of Subanese crystals, or blamite, an exotic and volatile material used in the manufacture of ammunition for needle-based weapons. This key resource makes Suban an important foothold for any faction that utilizes such weaponry. Once safeguarded by the Covenant, the moon is now targeted by several parties, including independent keeps, the Swords of Sanghelios, and even the Banished.

CORRUPTER is a UNSC cryptonym that is declared in the event that a Spartan has been infected by the Flood, that safeguards intended to prevent their infection have failed, and that weapons of mass destruction have been authorized for use. The only known instance of CORRUPTER being enacted came in 2556 during an outbreak at Site 22, the location of a buried Forerunner vessel on an asteroid in the Marcey system. After receiving confirmation of the outbreak, Captain Alvarez of the UNSC Saturn deployed Fireteam Leviathan to Site 22, hoping to eliminate the outbreak without needing to destroy Site 22 and the precious resources it contained. However, when the Spartans were ultimately lost to the Flood, Captain Alvarez declared CORRUPTER and launched the ship's complement of Shiva-class nuclear missiles at the site.

The Battle of Installation 04 in September 2552 was a turning point in the Human-Covenant War, setting in motion events that would lead to the Great Schism and ultimately the end of the war. It began when the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, fleeing Reach along an ostensibly random trajectory, stumbled across and subsequently crash landed on an unidentified artificial ringworld: Alpha Halo. In the ensuing battle, it was revealed that the ring was part of a failsafe contingency to prevent the spread of an interstellar parasite, the Flood. If the need was dire enough, the Halo Array would sterilize the galaxy of life and deprive the Flood of its food supply. With the Flood released upon the ring and its caretaker threatening to fire the Array, it fell to John-117 to destroy the ring to stop its firing, contain the Flood outbreak, and prevent catastrophe. For this, he became a legend among the UNSC.
<option> {{Halopedia:Main Page/Random/Layout|M850 Grizzly|File:HW2 Blitz Grizzly.png|Manufactured by Chalybs Defense Solutions, the M850 Grizzly first entered service with the UNSC armed forces in 2509. Despite the logistical challenges of transporting a vehicle of this size, the tank quickly found a niche among Marines and Army units, where it was utilized in an anti-armor capacity against Insurrectionists. The outbreak of the Human-Covenant War saw the Grizzly further cement itself as the UNSC's premier anti-armor weapons platform, contesting alien armored vehicles so effectively that the Covenant often had to rely on naval assets to defeat them. While the Grizzly is still in service following the war, the UNSC began to field this tank far less often even as the war came to a close, largely due to its exorbitant cost, stringent maintenance requirements, and difficulty of transportation.}

Undeniably one of the influential figures in Sangheili history, Arbiter Vema 'Togad met with the San'Shyuum delegation when they made first contact with the Sangheili on Ulgethon in 938 BCE. Discovering that they intended to disturb the planet's Forerunner artifacts, 'Togad beheaded the San'Shyuum delegation. This action ignited the War of Beginnings, a conflict that raged for nearly a century. Ultimately, a peace was brokered between the two species and the Covenant was formed. Vema 'Togad's ferocity in battle inspired the San'Shyuum to preserve the title of Arbiter.

The Assembler Sentinel is a variant of Strato-Sentinel created for the construction, maintenance, fabrication, transportation, and reconditioning of Forerunner superstructures and their component parts. Generally used in tandem with Retriever Sentinels in the construction of Halo installations, large portal complexes, and other similar structures, Assembler Sentinels are not designed for combat. However, in the event of a Flood outbreak, Assemblers will suspend their activities to engage the parasite using their powerful gravitic grapplers and warship-grade energy projectors.

Born Jerome Cable on the tough inner colony of Minister, he was forced into a violent life of crime even at an early age. Although he initially tried to escape from the Spartan-II program, Jerome-092 proved to be a top candidate for the program and one of its four greatest emerging leaders. When it came time for the Spartans to undergo augmentations, Jerome's body rejected the changes, resulting in his rehabilitation and re-augmentation alongside Douglas-042 and Alice-130. Jerome led these two Spartans—now known as Red Team—during Battle of Arcadia in 2531 when the team linked up with the UNSC Spirit of Fire. They would fight the Covenant on Trove and eventually the Banished on the Ark, where Captain Cutter granted Jerome the acting rank of commander.

Launched in 2473 as a colony vessel, the Spirit of Fire assisted in the foundation of settlements on colonies like Arcadia and Verent. With increasing Insurrectionist activity among the Outer Colonies, the vessel was requisitioned by the UNSC and refit for combat duty. However, these upgrades would see use following the onset of the Human-Covenant War instead. Under the command of Captain James Cutter, the UNSC Spirit of Fire played a pivotal role in the Harvest campaign, the First Battle of Arcadia, and the Battle of Trove. After the battle at the shield world, the vessel found itself adrift for 28 years until arriving at the Ark where the ship and its crew are still locked in combat with the Banished.

Tasked to lead Jiralhanae, Itho 'Hesiikee served as Atriox's commanding officer in 2549, sending his clan into combat forty Jiralhanae at a time. Each time, Atriox was the only warrior to return from battle. When it became clear that Atriox's hatred of the Covenant and his influence over other Jiralhanae posed a threat, 'Hesiikee decided to execute him. Returning alone from one last suicide mission, Atriox was brought before 'Hesiikee, who declared him a heretic and a traitor. However, when 'Hesiikee tried to execute Atriox, the Jiralhanae caught his blade and killed the Sangheili with his own weapon. In that moment, the Banished were born. After this confrontation, Atriox took 'Hesiikee's energy sword and reforged some of its components to create Chainbreaker, his custom gravity mace which would inspire the Banished's logo.

During the Covenant War, Sinaris-pattern heavy destroyers were often seen on the front lines of naval battles or leading glassing operation of human colonies. Commonly crewed by those who had been condemned for their disloyalty or disobedience, a posting aboard a Sinaris-pattern heavy destroyer was considered to be a viable method of the faithful returning to the rolls of honor after previously disgracing themselves. Despite the vessel's distinct focus on naval combat, the Sinaris-pattern was also equipped with sufficient complements of aircraft and infantry to assist in planetary occupation duties. Following the war, these warships continue to see service within the naval forces of the Swords of Sanghelios and other remnant factions.

Living on the mining colony of Reynes, Morgan Kinsano became disillusioned with the UEG and UNSC after witnessing the poor treatment of her fellow colonists. Tensions on Reynes escalated from protests to the formation of an insurrectionist cell led by Kinsano herself. However, when the Covenant attacked Reynes and the UNSC helped to resettle the colony's refugees, Kinsano began to change her stance on the UNSC and eventually enlisted in the Marine Corps to fight humanity's common enemy. Kinsano found herself serving in the Hellbringers, a specialized detachment of the ODST Special Tactics and Equipment Group. Rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, she now leads the Firestorm Battle Group aboard the UNSC Spirit of Fire.

Invariant Bias is a Contender-class ancilla created by the Forerunners to serve as the Custodian of the Absolute Record, an archive of information regarding Forerunner technology. In 2558, Dr. Catherine Halsey, who was in possession of the Janus Key, nearly succeeded in taking control of the archive. However, with the help of several Spartan-IVs, Invariant Bias regained control and confiscated the Janus Key. After the defeat of the Harbinger in 2560, Invariant Bias was contacted by Adjutant Revendicate, one of Installation 07's submonitors. Instead of requesting access, Adjutant Revendicate deposited information pertaining to the Xalanyn into the Absolute Record's archives, hoping it would be useful in case they were freed.

Known as "Faithful Perseverance" to the San'Shyuum, Feldokra is a Sangheili colony and ocean-moon orbiting the planet Dokra-Movi in the Zethro'Kal system. Initially colonized by the great sea clans of Sangheili history, the Covenant would later build enormous structures across the world's surface, citadels that would serve the highest echelon of military personnel, second only to the towers of High Charity itself. During the construction of these massive complexes, countless Forerunner fuel and power facilities were discovered in Feldokra's ocean trenches. The planet's deep seas also host several mines where precious materials are collected and used in the production of military hardware.

An honor guard serving aboard the Enduring Conviction, Orda Val 'Saham remained loyal to Shipmaster Let 'Volir following the Great Schism and his renunciation of the Covenant religion. As his family had condemned their faith even when the lies of the San'Shyuum were revealed, 'Saham became estranged from his clan. Even when Let 'Volir pledged his allegiance to the mercenary organization known as the Banished, 'Saham's loyalty to his shipmaster did not waver and he accompanied the Banished's expedition to the Ark. When the UNSC Spirit of Fire mysteriously arrived at the installation, Decimus ordered 'Saham to defend the Ark's teleportation grid which the Banished had been using to transport materiel. However, following the destruction of the Enduring Conviction and the realization that the UNSC intended to capture the Halo ring within the Ark's Forge, 'Saham was given command of a Scarab and assigned to guard one of the access points to ring. Ultimately, 'Saham was killed by Spartan-II Douglas-042, who hijacked the Scarab and used it to gain entry to Halo installation.

The brainchild of High Auxiliary Sloan of the Created, Executors are cybernetically and biomechanically altered humans. Enhanced with Forerunner augmentations to serve as the physical manifestation of the Created's will, Executors provide infolife with a tangible body and the capability for direct action. The very first Executor—and the only example presently known to exist—was formed by the Created using an unnamed human who had documented their discovery of the enigmatic Assembly throughout a series of data pads that were ultimately found by SPARTAN-B312 during the Fall of Reach.

One of ten candidates selected for the prototype phase of the Spartan-IV program, Ilsa Zane was the only one to survive the extreme augmentations without becoming crippled. She was, however, driven mad by the experience and ultimately defected to the New Colonial Alliance. Not long after this, Zane led these insurrectionists in a failed attempt to commandeer the UNSC Infinity. Spending the next few years assisting in the NCA's accumulation of nuclear weapons, Zane found herself on Laika III immediately prior to a Guardian's awakening on the planet. Following the chaos of its departure, Zane was captured by the Banished, ultimately deciding to side with them over the NCA who had left her to die.

"Slugmen" are a specialized gestalt of Lekgolo infrequently encountered by both humanity and other members of the Covenant itself. Equipped with Wukrshuz-pattern particle rifles and Eos'Mak-pattern plasma pistols, Slugmen were occasionally assigned to Sangheili-led military and exploration teams to serve in roles usually filled by Kig-Yar, such as support infantry and special purpose snipers. Following the loss of High Charity to the Flood in 2552, most records pertaining to the Slugmen and their role within the Covenant have been lost.

The overshield is a Covenant invention that renders an additional layer of personal energy shielding upon infantry and even vehicles. While the Covenant most often utilized overshields provided via Huragok support webs, overshields could also be applied to individual personnel through single-use devices. Through research on the technology such as that performed at ONI's Ilex Facility, the UNSC managed to reverse-engineer the overshield after the Human-Covenant War. In the modern era, Spartans may apply overshields to their armor through external power sources or via modules that can be readily installed directly into their MJOLNIR armor.
