Halo: Combat Evolved cut content
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
During the development of Halo: Combat Evolved there was numerous cut and unused content from the title. Below is all available information on that content.
Vehicles
Forerunner Tank
The Forerunner Tank was a proposed vehicle. It was concepted by Marcus Lehto as a heavy vehicle intended for use by the Forerunners.[1] Whether the vehicle progressed beyond the concept phase or reached any active development is unknown.
Covenant bomber
Designed by Shi Kai Wang and Paul Russel. The Covenant bomber was a Covenant unit.[2]

Hummer
The "Hummer" (officially designated in the RTS build as "scoutcar") was an early version of the Warthog, designed and discarded by Bungie. It was used in an early 100 polygon build of Halo: Combat Evolved based on their previous game Myth.[3] It was based on the real world Humvee/HMMWV and featured a pair of roof-mounted machine guns.
Weapons
Gravity rifle
The gravity rifle is an unused weapon. The model is still in the game's code, though it does not feature a proper texture, first- person model, or projectile. It is possible to use the gravity rifle in Halo: Custom Edition on certain maps using the devmode command cheat_all_weapons. There is no animation for it being fired, but it will create a bright flash when shot. The weapon produces flames on its target. Despite having no reticule or scope, the weapon is extremely accurate. Also, it has unlimited ammunition, due to it not having a coded magazine.

Gravity wrench
The gravity wrench was a deleted Covenant weapon intended for an early version of 'the game. It may have also inspired the plasma pistol, as the weapon must first be charged, and then will fire a strong ball of energy. In addition to that, it appears to act like an early version of the flamethrower, or other support weapons.

Pattern-2 Composite Sword
The Pattern-2 Composite Sword,[4] more commonly known as the machete, was a melee weapon that was originally planned to be included in Halo: Combat Evolved. It was deleted before the final game was released; the final product has no melee-specific weaponry, the player can perform a 'pistol whip' or 'buttstroke' attack with any weapon.
The machete shown on the Normal, Heroic, and Legendary difficulty icons for the Halo games appears to have been modeled after the Pattern-2 Composite Sword.

Ambient life
Blind wolf
- Main article: Morolaath
The "blind wolf" was a creature designed by Halo: Combat Evolved art director Marcus Lehto to be included in that game.[5][6] According to that early design, a blind wolf would have a symbiotic relationship with some kind of insectoid creature.[7] This "bug" would plant its stinger at the base of the wolf's cranium and in this way allow it to see through the eyes of the bug.[8] Then, when the blind wolf caught and killed its prey, the bug would be permitted to share in eating the carcass of whatever had been killed.[7][8] Not only would blind wolves exist in groups in some environments of the game, but they were planned to be able to be ridden by the player's character.[5] Ultimately, they had to be cut from the game because of problems with artificial intelligence.[5]
This image show's Marcus Lehto's original sketch of the "blind wolf" and its insectoid companion.[9]

Threeleg
The Threeleg was an ambient lifeform intended to inhabit Installation 04 in Halo: Combat Evolved. As its name suggests, it was a tripodal organism, with three powerful legs and two smaller arms. It appears to have had an exoskeleton, and at least two eyes. It was cut from the final game.[12]

Thorn beast
Thorn Beasts are large, bipedal reptilian creatures cut from Halo: Combat Evolved. They are named Thorn beasts due to the 5 erect spines that protrude from the back. They were also cut from Halo Wars, as ambient wildlife. Thorn beasts were also mentioned in Halo Contact Harvest, Being a delicacy among the Jiralhanae.
