Opinion[edit]

Personally, i found the book interesting. His depictions of the UNSC Marines and Helljumpers were enthralling, his book was the first to give an insight into Covenant hierarchy and politics, and his Cortana was spot-on. the only fault i found was with his version of the Master Chief, but that was only a minor thing for me. Kora 'Morhekee 04:44, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

I didn't like Master chief but i agree that his marines were great. It also explains alot about the parts of the story in the game that didn't make sense, like where the marines went and what the covenant were doing. User:Sir aaron

Semper Fi[edit]

Semper Fi, means loyal to the core, the marine core. So we can assume that the UNSC would want loyal marines. Am I right? I could be wrong...--H*bad (talk) 22:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

No,it means always faithful.Heres a latin lesson for you, semper means always, and Fi means faithful.

(This means always vigilant)

Question[edit]

Am I the only one who when reading the book was dissapointed every time it switched back to the Chief, and only really caring about what happened to the marines?

Spartan 501 06:08, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Nope, same for me. The author did a good job, it's just that his idea of what a Spartan is isn't what people want them to be. His Marines were absolutely awesome, and I personally hope he does another! Specops306, Kora 'Morhek

when i read this book, i seem to think thats its just like a walkthrough for the halo: combat evolved. I know that it ovious but its annoying after a while since i played the game and i know whats coming next.. --H92 17:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

He gave the masterchief too many emotions in the book.

you know why.its becuce chief parts are just about eneamys thare and here and the constit daceripshon of ervey battle.its like reading someone play the game.--Noname the hero 22:50, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what you said.Caboose's Brother

Criticism[edit]

Am i the only one who thinks the artical is a little unfairly critical on the book. i thought it was a very good book and i dont want people to not read the book because of what this artical says about it. User:Sir aaron

I agree, the criticism also seems very biased, I suggest shorting down and rephrasing the entire section, as no other of the books had a "criticism" section. Baryon15 16:50, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Halo movie[edit]

If there the halo movie is going to be based on the halo 1 game, they must use this book for the movie

i don't understand why they don't just make a game, even if it's animated,it's gonna make SOOO much money. and i heard it's gonna be about the 1st book. (Fall of Reach)

I'd actually hope that if they ever make a Halo Movie, they'd base it off The Fall of Reach. To me, it'd be pointless to have a movie of any of the games. They've been done; we can just play the game and experience it for ourselves. However, with a movie based off Fall of Reach, it would enable us (the audience) to dig deeper into the origins of Master Chief and the entire Spartan-II program that was basically non-existent in the games. -Kamikaze102

Discrepancies from "Trivia" to "Inconsistencies"[edit]

I propose we move all the mistakes noted in the trivia to the inconsistencies section, so that they are correctly categorized. --KickButtUnggoy 00:44, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Reception?[edit]

Should we add a reception section to the article? The article seems a little incomplete without it. --Thanksgiving.jpg General5 7 Gobble? 21:50, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, we should. Before you do that, make sure it is an official report.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 21:53, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Can do. I'll get started. --Thanksgiving.jpg General5 7 Gobble? 21:54, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

someone make a map?[edit]

on hce.halomaps.org, i found that you can download modded campaign levels for Custom edition. does anyone know if there might be levels that follow Halo: The Flood? Lunar ankou2 06:12, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Updated release info-Thel's rank[edit]

Well, even though I know people are going to be focused on fixing out the little bugs that inevitably occur with a wiki move, I figured I would post this here. I just purchased The Flood's rerelease with updated content. One of the things is a report on the events of the Battle of Installation 04. Without spoiling, it does such things as give Ascendant Justice's starship classification and the Prophet on the Truth and Reconciliation a name. However, throughout the report, Thel is referred to as a Fleet Master, not a Supreme Commander. How do we proceed on this? -- SFH 16:38, 17 October 2010 (EDT)

I guess ignore it as yet another mistake. As for the others, let's add that info ASAP! - Halo-343 16:48, 17 October 2010 (EDT)

How do we know it's not a retcon?

Anyways, here's a breif list of new content:

-Thel's logs of events leading up to, during, and breifly after the Halo evernt

-An audio tape of a marine moments before his infection.

-the details of the flood's release from the perspective of AN INFECTION FORM!

-Zuka Zamanee's journal

-343 guilty sparks log

-a report from the Librarian, who suggests that earth may have been tampered with by the persucusrors. Why is it always earth that gets messed with by ancient alien civilizations?Jabberwockxeno 17:50, 20 October 2010 (EDT)?

Mythical Banshees[edit]

Has anyone noticed the trivia part where somebody mentions a banshee on the original cover?--Caboose's Brother 21:29, 11 February 2011 (EST)

Yes why?#@lof@n1234 00:08, 12 February 2011 (EST)

Well where are the Banshees? Does it mean the prototype cover, the one that wasn't used? If so I was wondering if that should be fixed, because the original cover, that actually hit stores had the picture of the Chief blasting the Flood with an M90.--Caboose's Brother 13:06, 12 February 2011 (EST)

The banshees were on the original cover.#@lof@n1234 13:15, 12 February 2011 (EST)

2010 reissue worth buying? Or overall, the whole book[edit]

I've never read The Flood, but I read The Fall of Reach a long time ago. I recently read Cryptum, Primordium, The Cole Protocol and I'm about 1/3 of the way through Ghosts of Onyx on my iPad(I read Cryptum and TCP on my iPad as well). I just bought the 2011 "definitive edition" of The Fall of Reach on Walmart.com because they only had the 2010 reissue on iBooks and I wanted the newer version. I am thinking of buying The Flood reissue on ibooks(if it is the reissue version they have on there) but I want to know if it is any good? I've read the reception of it saying that Dietz's charactization of Master Chief is subpar and all. So is the book worth $7.99, especially the reissue? Riku Kurosaki15 08:14, 16 May 2012 (EDT)

I'm definitely planning on buying myself a physical copy of the newer, revised editions, simply because they have been, as I just said, revised, plus they also have new information included as well at the very end of the books. Does that answer your question? --Xamikaze330 09:32, 16 May 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Well sort of. I was just wondering if compared to The Fall of Reach, Ghosts of Onyx & First Strike( which were all written by Eric Nylund) how this book is. Something else I forgot to ask though: Does the book expand at all on Halo: CE's story or is it just a word for word novelization of the game? Riku Kurosaki15 09:50, 16 May 2012 (EDT)

Parts of it are word-for-word, but it does definitely expand on the game. There's whole new subplots about a group of ODSTs and the Covenant and there's a fair amount of things that happen between the levels and in different parts of the ring. The Chief's characterization is slightly different from Nylund's; whether this is a good thing or not is a matter of taste. If you want to know all there is to know, then sure, it's worth getting. You just have to take it for what it is - as a novelization of the game, there are parts which directly rehash it. The main plot is also very predictable because of it, though you might just care enough about the supporting characters to make it worth a read. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 11:21, 16 May 2012 (EDT)

Who is McKenzie[edit]

Whom the hell is Private McKenzie whom the hell he is in Halo: The Flood Trooper201 (talk) 04:43, 26 August 2015 (EDT)

To my knowledge, he's NOT in it? We only have one article for a McKenzie Marine, who was in Halo 2 and wasn't on Halo. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 07:35, 26 August 2015 (EDT)
