Cairo Station Location Pages

Okay, just for the record, every single page about the Cairo Station is technically complete. Anyone who has the time and/or resources is welcome to improve each page, but they all contain pretty much the same sections, so everything is really similar and it actually looks like we know what we're doing now. Now for THIS page... Güéߣ¥-éҐøñ¥-ħîИg¥ 06:13, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I removed this...

...from this page, because it clutters it up due to lack of textual content. If it looks fine on 1024x768 or whatever most people are using these days, feel free to put it back:

SuperJump

I found a superjump on cairo station. Here are the details. I was playing cairo station on coop easy trying only to melee. So I got to the first outdoor section and one of the ranger elites was on top of the corridor you come out of. So I use the vacation to get up there and he was (this is hard to explain so bear with me) on the far end of the section with the glass ceilings, where the windows end and the floor raises slightly, on the edge of the side facing away from the In Amber Clad, facing outwards at a 90 degree angle to the corridor. I meleed him from behind with the shotgun, killing him, but the mini lunge effect dragged me over the side. I caught for a moment on one of the window sills, but then fell again directly onto the geometry line at the edge of the slightly lowered area on the ground. I was propelled at least twice as high as the corridor but died a few seconds after I began to fall again.--User:7th Destiny

Massive Repetition

This potentially involves all of the ODP-related articles as a whole... The Cairo article is, again, tainted with information that is not relevant specifically to that station.

The current 'Station' section would be better merged with the general ODP article. (After all, if somebody wants more information on the inner workings of an ODP, they should go to the ODP article.)

The entire 'Internal' section should be removed, with perhaps some very small bits being merged with the ODP article. The blurbs on each little part should be removed entirely. The 'locations' side bar should be more than sufficient (and saves us the need to insert blurbs that don't summerize the linked articles anyway.)

Concerning the 'locations' bar, I suggest it be renamed 'ODP locations' and the attached articles modified to reflect that. Ideally, the location articles should remove their sections about 'Cairo'. Mentions of the 'Chief was here' would be better served by the Cairo Station (Level) article instead.

If there are no objections, I'll start doing the slash-and-burning something or another later. Meco 22:12, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Well i was asked to add that section by an admin but if your unhappy with it then i will go edit it to make it more relevant to the station. --Ajax 013 22:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

I am unsure how one can make the Internals section more Cairo-specific. There's simply not enough content to that effect to merit clogging up the article with useless repetition. I mean, we didn't do this sort of thing for the Pillar of Autumn article. Even the article on the Halos leaves the specific locations to the links. Although I would be interested if the admin who requested the change dropped in and made his reasons known. Meco 16:40, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

halo 3

is the station intact in halo 3?CF0UoH/A Company|0]]1 19:34, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes the station was left technically intact throught the game. Its power generator on Earth however was not.—This unsigned comment was made by 98.28.17.166 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

What, where'd you get that? Do you have a source or is it just something you made up?--Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 20:43, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
I have no idea when that was mentioned...--Fluffball Gato 23:21, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Malta-Athens-Cairo acronym

Could the acronym and the fact that Cairo nearly suffered the same fate as Malta and Athens be a reference to Ultraman Leo's Monster-Attacking Crew, which operated from space and was annihilated in Episode 40? 24.13.131.86 21:26, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

UNSC Homefleet Status

If the Cairo survived both Regret and Truth's attacks, then how are we supposed to know if the homefleet truly is "smashed". Much more could have survived the attacks since we know now it was false that it was all destroyed. I think we should change some of the articles to show that the homefleet was attacked, crippled, but definitely not destroyed entirely.

I can only ponder why the Cairo survived, and what else may have survived. Like Regret, Truth only needed one hole to break through. It's obvious they avoided the Cairo-Athens-Malta cluster, as the Cairo is still alive. All we know of Truth's fleet was that he had the remnants of the Brute-controlled Covenant navy comprising of (# ships?) and only had thirty (3 of which were assault carriers) after the assault. Anyways, much more of the homefleet could have survived than we originally thought.

Does anyone disagree on changing the status of the homefleet after Truth's attack? -Dustin Nugget 2:54, 21 November 2012 (EST)

The thirty was after the battles above Earth. Seeing as High Charity's fleet used to be in hundreds, it's clear a lot many must have been lost, and many UNSC ships lost to down them. What's more, maybe Cairo Station didn't survive. Maybe it was destroyed but rebuilt. Naturally the new one would still be above Cairo to defend that sector. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 04:06, 21 November 2012 (EST)
I forgot to include the "after the assault" after mentioning Truth's fleet numbers. But on topic, I never heard the station being mentioned in Halo 4, could a link or guide be provided as to where I can read/listen to see if I can find any context clues that might add to what we know? I do recognize the possibility that the station could have been rebuilt and named to match the original. -Dustin Nugget 4:12, 21 November 2012 (EST)

MAC station orbits

The trivia seems to suggest that the Cairo is not actually above Egypt's capital. Why should it be?? So the MAC stations are named after prominent cities on Earth. Doesn't mean they have to be right over their namesake. If it wasn't commonly known, "geosynchronous" just means the station stays ina fixed position in orbit over a particular area on the surface of the Earth. It by no means implies Cairo Station has to be above Cairo, Egypt. Seems like too much of an assumption as well as a misunderstanding of the term "geosynchronous". -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 20:54, 30 August 2013 (EDT)

Command Bridge

We'll need a new image of the Command Bridge. I just saw the cutscenes on YouTube and there's an excellent overhead shot of the entire facility's layout.262VigilantGuardian (talk) 21:57, 13 November 2014 (EST)

Is this the one? - NightHammer (talk) 22:16, 13 November 2014 (EST)
Yes, well done.262VigilantGuardian (talk) 22:22, 13 November 2014 (EST)

ODA or OWP ?

The Essential Visual Guide indicates OWP-142 as its Hull classification symbol. Whence comes ODA? 88.120.49.44 04:55, 30 April 2015 (EDT).

The very first picture in the gallery section uses ODA. I don't know where it came from but I believe it is an official Bungie picture, though someone with better info about it could enlighten us about. SPARTAN-177 (talk) 18:31, 30 April 2015 (EDT)
The image originally came from an article by Stephen Loftus, who has been extremely helpful with anything canon, though the article was written long before he was officially involved. I'm not sure where he got the term - it's possible it can be found in Halo 2, though I never saw it. You would have to ask him about that. I would expect OWP, as the most recent and canonically confirmed option, to be the official designation. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 20:47, 30 April 2015 (EDT)
Well, I took a look at Loftus's article and it seems he got the ODA from signage that appear on Cairo that says UNSCDF-ODA142 Cairo. Now, playing my copy of 2, I can confirm that the signs do say it in the original version. However, I don't own TMCC or an XB1 so I can't say if they changed the signs in Anniversary to what the Visual Guide says. EDIT: Looking at the snapshot of the read out of Harper's fleet, it has Cairo marked as OWP-142. SPARTAN-177 (talk) 21:43, 30 April 2015 (EDT)
A bit embarrassed that I provided the link, but completely missed that. -- Qura 'Morhek The Autocrat of Morheka 04:37, 1 May 2015 (EDT)
I can shed some light on some of this. The general signage on the inside of Cairo does say UNSCDF-ODA142 CAIRO, such as signage like the COMMONS or TRAM area signs, however, the registry used in the Visual Guide was chosen as it better matched the tactical readout in the cutscene where it shows the MAC stations with the 3 cluster callouts: CAIRO OWP142, MALTA OWP143, and ATHENS OWP144 along with a side and top view of the station and the words HUMAN FLEET and ORBITAL WEAPON PLATFORM ARRAY. This is from the original Halo 2 game. The tactical screen in Halo 2 Anniversary has a callout pointing to Cairo alone in the array and is labeled CAIRO_OWP-142. SO I'd treat the official station registry as OWP-142. Hope this helps resolve the question. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 17:10, 1 May 2015 (EDT)
