A hidden message can be found in the main menu for Halo 2, written and left by UI designer David Candland. The message takes the form of a block of scrolling text just below the Halo 2 logo that has been cut in half such that only the lower half of the message remains visible.[1] Candland originally implemented the message as he was tired of drawing symbols for the scrolling parts of the menu, and reasoned that no one would figure out his quick and efficient solution.[2]
The message in question reads DAVID CANDLAND IS THE GREATEST UI DESIGNER TO EVER LIVE IN THE 21ST CENTURY HIS WORK IS ASTOUNDING AND HE IS VERY HUMBLE
