Beta-Romeo Actual[1] was the callsign of a Spartan-II supersoldier of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. She was the leader of Beta-Red, a splinter of Red Team, during the Fall of Reach in the summer of 2552.[2]
BiographyEdit
ConscriptionEdit
"Beta-Romeo Actual" was of a genetic make-up that Doctor Catherine Halsey regarded as desirable for the SPARTAN-II program. After being selected as a suitable candidate for the SPARTAN-II program in 2517, she was abducted and sent to Reach, where she was specially trained to be a soldier by Chief Petty Officer Franklin Mendez and the artificial intelligence Déja.
In 2525, she and the other candidates underwent a series of augmentations to improve their physical and mental abilities.[3]
Fall of ReachEdit
On August 30, 2552, Red Team was deployed to the surface of Reach from the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. After their Pelican dropship, Bravo 001, was shot down, the Spartans were forced to make a high-altitude jump to the ground, killing four of them. Upon regrouping, team leader Fred-104 divided Red Team into four splinter groups, including the six-member Team Beta.
Team Beta was then assigned to defend one of the planet's orbital defense generators against the Covenant. As a force of 32 Covenant Zurdo-pattern Wraiths and 260 infantry advanced toward a UNSC position, Beta-Romeo Actual ordered her team to move forward and engage the attackers in close combat. After the Spartans broke the Covenant assault wave, Beta-Romeo Actual instructed First Lieutenant Jake Chapman to withdraw his forces from the area. As the Spartans defended against two armored divisions, three Covenant cruisers emerged from cloud cover and headed toward the UNSC position.
Barely evading the cruisers, Pelican dropship pilot Iron Fist made a daring attempt to retrieve Beta-Red. However, Central Command ordered the destroyer UNSC Majestic to bombard the approaching Covenant forces. Majestic then fired six MAC rounds onto the target area.
