CH252 Standard Issue Marine helmet along with optional add-on ballistic goggles.

The CH252 Helmet is the standard issue helmet worn by the members of the UNSC Marine Corps and an integral component of the Marine Battle Dress Uniform. The same helmet, sometimes equipped with a polarized visor that covers the face, is worn by the officers of the New Mombasa Police Department.

The standard helmet weighs about 3.3 pounds,[1] and is painted olive to match the standard issue UNSC Marine body armor. This version can be fitted with ballistic goggles outfitted with a heads up display visor[2], in either orange or black, although the latter appears to be most commonly found on Sergeants or squad leaders.

History

What appears to be an earlier version of the helmet is used by the Marines stationed at the UNSC Pillar of Autumn around September 2552, and an even earlier version is seen used by the Marines stationed on the UNSC Spirit of Fire in 2531. The current version of the helmet saw mainstay use in late 2552.

Trivia

  • The ballistic goggles are more common if the Halo 3 Thunderstorm Skull is turned on, as such this means that it denotes higher rank or at least more survivability in combat.
  • In Halo 2 and Halo 3, you can shoot off their helmets. They will not pick them back up.
  • The CH252 is the designation given to the helmet seen in Halo 2; it's unknown if the model in Halo 3 is canonically separate from it.
  • Nicknames for it include: Coconut, Lid, Can, and Pasta Shell.[3]
