The M3063 Automated Heavy Machine Gun/Self-Tracking (M3063 AHMG/ST), colloquially referred to as the deployable turret or autoturret,[1] is an automated turret utilised by the United Nations Space Command as an anti-personnel sentry weapon. Mounted on a heavy tetrapod, the weapon emits a visible laser to aid in targeting. It features a heavy machine gun that fires at a moderate rate, and an energy weapon that fires an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) shot similar to the overcharge function of the Covenant's Type-25 plasma pistol.[2]
Operational history
This autoturret was frequently used in War Games training sessions by SPARTAN-IVs aboard the UNSC Infinity. It was an effective way to defend captured bases and secure objectives, especially in Dominion matches.[3]
When the Infinity returned to the Forerunner shield world Requiem in 2558, various UNSC bases and outposts were established on the inner surface of the planet. Several such autoturrets were used to defend these locations, including Galileo Base,[4] Two Giants,[5] and Magma Base.[6]
