The T261 Arm-Mounted Gatling Gun (AMGG), nicknamed the Lucifer, is a UNSC Gatling-style machine gun used during the Human-Covenant War.[2][1]
Overview
Design details
The Lucifer AMGG takes the form of a six-barrelled rotary cannon, capable of firing 2,980 20mm high-explosive rounds per minute.[Note 1] The weapon is capable of carrying at least roughly 800 rounds without needing to reload, and is mounted directly into the right arm of the Mark I Armor Defense System. The Lucifer features a bulky armoured housing.[2] A visually similar weapon, presumably the T621, was later integrated into the Mark I [J] ADS. Unlike the Lucifer found on the regular Mark I ADS, this version was mounted atop the left forearm, allowing the suit's operator full use of their hand when not employing the weapon.[3]
Operational history
The T261 AMGG was employed during the Algolis Invasion. During the battle, a Marine with the call sign "Ghost" took the research facility's Mark I ADS prototype, and used it in defense of the civilians and fellow Marines still on the planet. Ghost used the suit's mounted T261 to take kill a large number of Covenant infantry, shoot down a Irdnekt-pattern Banshee and destroy a Ru'swum-pattern Phantom before he was overwhelmed by the invaders. He then activated the suit's nuclear self-destruct system, destroying himself, the suit and all nearby Covenant forces.[2]
Although the Algolis research facility was destroyed in the battle, data was recovered from its ruins and used to create the Mark I [J] "Green Machine", which appears to integrate a weapon visually akin to the T621 Lucifer.[3][4]
Trivia
In Medieval Christianity, Lucifer is the name of the angel who was cast out of Heaven and later became the Devil. In Roman mythology, Lucifer is the name of the deified dawn. The name means "Bearer of Light".

Notes
- ^ a b In Prototype, Ghost fires the Lucifer at the Banshee for a total of six seconds. His heads-up display indicates he starts with 850 rounds and has 552 rounds afterward, meaning he has expended 298 rounds in six seconds. This means the Lucifer as a firing rate of ~50 rounds per second, or 2,980 rounds a minute.
