Last of the Brave is a song included in the Halo 3: Original Soundtrack. It includes the tracks Last of the Brave, Cold Logic, and Cool Temperament, and plays during the level Crow's Nest.

Last of the Brave begins just as the player enters the cave where he meets Reynolds for the first time in the level and is told to go to the hangar. It begins with a remake of Brothers in Arms from the Halo CE Soundtrack, but with only the brass, percussion, and lower string parts, omitting the high strings, woodwind and choir. After reaching the climax point of the original Brothers in Arms, Last of the Brave then continues on with only the drumbeat, with the percussion gradually becoming more and more elaborate. A high string note fades in, before a drumroll brings the track to its conclusion after 1:43.

Cold Logic uses a similar synth effect to Ancient Machine from Halo 2, with chromatic synthesised notes in the background. This is a very short piece, lasting only 39 seconds, and plays when the player fights Drones for the first time in the game.

Cool Temperament starts at 2:22 as the previous part of the song fades out and a new low-string melody is introduced, which is then joined by percussion, continuing on until the end of the piece. Cool Temperament plays after the Master Chief leaves the Ops Centre for the second time and fights the pack of Brutes led by a Chieftain, and it runs for 1:36.

In total, it runs for 3 minutes and 59 seconds.

  • Brothers in Arms is also remade in Follow Our Brothers, therefore Last of the Brave could be seen as the mirror opposite of that piece, which is centered on the Elites, while Last of the Brave focuses on the UNSC that are stationed in Crow's Nest.
  • The track Cold Logic is similar to the Halo 2 OST's Ancient Machine, with both pieces using similar synth effects with a dissonant melody in the background, and both most likely referring to Forerunner technology.
