Covenant Honor Guard

Other role(s):

Protecting important individuals and places
Personal guards of the Prophets

The Lights of Sanghelios, known as Honor Guard Ultras or "Helios" for short,[1] is a distinctive unit of Sangheili Honor Guards in the Covenant. The name "Lights of Sanghelios" is a refence to the globular cluster of stars near the species' home system.[2] Members of the Lights of Sanghelios, sometimes referred to as "Honor Guard Ultras", command the 'lower' Sangheili Honor Guardsmen that protect the High Prophets.[3]

Description

Lights of Sanghelios sport the same ornate armor as the rest of the Honor Guard, with the exception being that the base armor they wear is white instead of crimson red. This color is consistent with the Sangheili Ultras of the regular Covenant army, hence their title.

The Lights of Sanghelios are likely more skilled than their subordinates, with many years of experience in the Covenant Honor Guard services, which is particularly impressive considering the prodigious combat abilities of any in the Honor Guard. Because of their skill in close combat and rank over the rest of the Sangheili, they were likely killed first at the start of the Great Schism, similar to what happened to the Councilors.

The San 'Shyuum use them as personal guards for their living quarters. The Minister of Fortitude, later known as the High Prophet of Truth, used these special guard units for his own personal protection during the Twenty-third Age of Doubt.[2]
