The XEV9-Matos Nonlinear Pulse Cannon is a Naval laser weapon in service to the UNSC Defense Force.[1]
Background
The XEV9 is an armament on Sahara-class heavy prowlers like the UNSC Aladdin. Pulse laser weaponry has been mounted on UNSC prowlers as early as 2531.[2] This is likely an independent UNSC development rather than reverse engineering of Covenant technology, as early versions of pulse laser technology were available to humanity as early as 1960, and in weaponized form by the early 21st century.
