The HRUNTING Mark III [S] Exoskeleton is a variant in the long-running line of Cyclops powered exoskeletons, a part of the UNSC's Project: HRUNTING.[1]
Overview
Design details
The [S] variant of the Cyclops features a refactored exoskeleton and completely original control software written by Serina. It is equipped with a wrist-mounted autocannon that gives it more combat utility in the field, and is generally considered easier and faster to operate even with this weaponry and armour. However, it lacks the raw strength of its combat engineering counterparts.[2]
Development history
The Mark III [S]' origins lie in various Lethbridge Industrial files present on Arcadia in 2531. The files were "recovered" by Serina, the Smart AI of UNSC Spirit of Fire, during the Battle for Arcadia in that year, and used as a basis for her redesign of existing HRUNTING Mark III (B) Cyclops suits already aboard Spirit of Fire inventory. The design schematics for the Mark III [S] were passed onto Spirit of Fire after Serina's death, and were later used by Isabel as a base on which to improve with modern UNSC cyberlink protocols and module concepts.[1]
Variants
- Corporate Security Cyclops: A custom Mark III [S] design employed by the Liang-Dortmund Corporation.
- Desert Sniper Cyclops: A specialised variant for desert warfare.
- Incinerator Cyclops: A custom Cyclops variant employed by the Hellbringers.
- Kinsano's Cyclops: A custom Hellbringer variant equipped with two M7057 flamethrowers and employed by Morgan Kinsano.
- Reactive Cyclops: A custom variant of the Cyclops equipped with energy shielding.
- Strike Cyclops: A version of the Mark III [S] employed by the UNSC Marine Corps.
- Veteran Cyclops: A custom variant of the [S] design with an upgraded cannon equipped with shock rounds.
Operational history
During the Second Ark Conflict, the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire used modified Cyclopes to combat Banished forces.[3]

Cyclops upgrade: Shock rounds
Unlike its Halo Wars counterpart, the Cyclops in Halo Wars 2 is an anti-vehicle unit armed with a gun, though it still cannot attack aircraft, and only does okay against structures and poorly against infantry. In addition, the Cyclops is no longer able to repair ground vehicles and structures; this role is instead filled by the Nightingale. The Cyclops can be built at the Barracks by all UNSC leaders.[3] In Blitz, Cyclops cost 30 energy, Reactive Cyclops cost 50 energy, and a Veteran Cyclops cost 70 energy. Morgan Kinsano has her own personal Cyclops equipped with dual M7057 flamethrowers.
