Template:Ratings The Halo novels are books that have expanded heavily on the Halo universe. The first three novels were published by Ballantine Books, while the more recent ones are published by Tor Books. This is a list of all of the novels:
- Halo: The Fall of Reach, by Eric Nylund, which details the SPARTAN-II Program, the Covenant attack Reach, and how the UNSC Pillar of Autumn escaped to Halo.
- Halo: The Flood, the novelization of Halo: Combat Evolved by William C. Dietz. The Flood also features several side stories.
- Halo: First Strike, by Eric Nylund, fills in the gap between Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.
- Halo Box Set, the box set featuring the three first Halo novels.
- Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, by Eric Nylund, follows Kurt-051 and the training of the Spartan-IIIs on Onyx.
- Halo: Contact Harvest, by Joseph Staten, follows Avery Johnson and features the events leading up to the Human-Covenant War.
- Halo: The Cole Protocol, by Tobias S. Buckell, introduces Gray Team and details Jacob Keyes' backstory.
- Halo: Evolutions, by several critically acclaimed authors, the novel is made up of a collection of short stories relating to the Halo universe.
- The Forerunner Saga, by Greg Bear, is a three-part series explores the Forerunner society, the Forerunner-Flood War and the events leading up to it.
- Halo: Cryptum, the first novel in the series.
- Unnamed Halo novel series, by Karen Traviss, is a trilogy that explores the aftermath of the Human-Covenant War after the end of Halo 3.
- Ghosts of Onyx sequel - a yet-unnamed follow-up to Ghosts of Onyx.
Trivia
- In most of the novels, there is a Covenant subplot. These usually feature Grunts such as Yayap or Dadab.
- In the Halo logo on the covers on the novels up until Evolutions, there is the Marathon symbol between the "A" and "L" of the word "Halo". In the novels by 343 Industries, the logo has been changed due to the fact the Marathon symbol belongs to Bungie.
- Some of the novels contain several contradictions to the games, a result of the authors not being part of Bungie.
