Perihelion Station[1] is an orbital space station utilized by the Office of Naval Intelligence's Materials Group in the production of MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor (GEN3).[2] It is in orbit of KC-59.[1]
Overview
Design details
The space station is in the shape of a cylinder and it rotates about its central axis. Also along its central axis is a tether that protrudes from one end of the cylinder. This tether is used by an elevator to and from the facility, presumably to deliver materials from a mine on the planet below used in the production of MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. To aid in the manufacturing process of this armor, the facility features various kinds of equipment designed to create its individual components. At least part of the facility makes use of zero-gravity environments to construct its metal components and a system of magnets to move the components along the assembly line.[2] Perihelion is connected to KC-59 via a Skyhook.[1]

History
This Materials Group facility was constructed in orbit above an unknown planet for the purpose of manufacturing MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. By early 2559, the third generation of MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor had finished development and this station was used in its production.[2] On February 10, 2559,[2][3] various technicians oversaw the creation of Master Chief Petty Officer John-117's suit of MJOLNIR Mark VI armor at this facility.[2]
