Armor mods are gameplay enhancements featured in Halo 5: Guardians. They are prominently featured in the Warzone gamemode as REQ upgrades unlockable via the requisition system for use in a player's loadout, and in the co-operative campaign of the game. In co-op, the various upgrades are used by the co-op Spartan NPC characters, as a way to differentiate the individual members of Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris.

Armor mods are similar to the support upgrades and tactical packages introduced in Halo 4's multiplayer.

Overview

Campaign

Blue Team's shared armor mod is Auto-Medic, which increases the rate at which their energy shields and health recharge. All members of Fireteam Osiris use the Upgraded Thrusters armor mod, which decreases the cooldown between thruster pack uses, shortens the delay before reaching full sprinting speed, and slightly increases the maximum sprinting speed. Below is a list of the armor mods used by each character:

Trivia

  • Characters can only have one armor mod equipped at a time. For this reason the characters of Fireteam Osiris and Blueteam each have their own unique armor mods in addition to having balancing tweaks exclusive to campaign.
  • As far as the game engine is concerned, Wheelman and Patrol Case are not armor mods. Rather than using the armor mod tag system they instead behave similarly to the Wheelman tactical package and Ammo support upgrade both featured in Halo 4.
